Early round ko for Coetzee. That bionic right would demolish Norton. Gerrie was a much better fighter than that guy nmaed "Gerry" who destroyed Kenny....plus his delivery system was straighter and more efficient than Cooney's.

Tbf Norton was in his late 30s and hopelessly shot for Cooney.

Very true, I meant his prime, let's say 1973-1977. not when he was fighting from the nursing home as a resident vs Gerry Cooney, that is not very competitive in 1981.

I think this is a great fight where either man can win. Not sure I see it as the mismatch that others have expressed

True swagman, but I don't think that Ken would have fared much better in his prime...the old "puncher bug-a-boo" that Norton always suffered with, and his propensity to freeze up vs a guy with the power to hurt him....Norton's Achilles Heel.

Red Cobra, I agree, because even in his prime, Norton froze against Foreman in 1974.

I actually disagree there. Norton boxed OK in the first round and faired far better than he did vs Cooney even if the end result was the same.

Norton by late stoppage I think. Coetzee hit hard, but didn't push you back as much as a Shavers or Foreman did. He was more predictable and stand-up and more a boxer than the other two.

Again, it's not punchers that beat Norton because they were punchers. It was because they forced him back. Coetzee wouldn't fight that way.

So you would pick Bonecrusher Smith to beat Norton?

I don't think it's a mismatch, i would just make Norton a comfortable favorite. Coetzee just had a tendency to die later in a fight. Norton was not the most determined fighter ever, but would probably put Coetzee away around the time he starts to die due to his great stamina.

very plausible scenario. I think this is a fight that either man could win though I would likely favor Norton.
