Excellent matchup. Gerrie would be favored early. The longer the fight goes, the better for Norton.

At their best, if a title was on the line, I could see Norton stopping Gerrie around the 13th or 14th.

In a 10-rounder, I could see Gerrie scoring a knockdown and maybe edging it on the cards.

Toss-up. Either guy could legitimately win.

I don't give Coetzee a chance to win. I just think it's certain he gives Norton a hard time near the beginning. It would probably follow the plot of Weaver-Coetzee fight, except I would think it would be a bit better, with Norton being a more offense-minded fighter.

or Norton could just go into a defensive shell like he did in the Cobb fight and Coetzee would pound out all his energy until Norton goes on the offensive and stops him

Gerrie's power, or ability to set it up, is as overrated as the fragility of Norton's chin.

Good match-up. Coetzee usually found a way to lose from winning positions and his stamina wasn't the best, so I'm thinking Norton on points or maybe a late TKO. Lesser punchers than Coetzee had Norton down and out though, so don't write him off.

    Norton. Going away.

I sure don't see Gerrie absorbing this guys body shots very well. And the way he fought on the outside and spent so much time thinking would make him susceptible to that oddball Norton jab.

But that Coetzee habit of tapping his gloves together all the time while standing in the center of the ring figuring out what to do is all wrong against a viscious body puncher. I think he hangs in there until the second half of the fight--then the body damage causes him to have alligator arms. That's when Kenny comes upstairs with one of those wide powerful looping right hands of his and it lands on the button.

People go on about how Norton couldn't fight punchers, why? Because he lost to George foreman and when he was washed he lost to Cooney and Shavers? Coetzee was not in the same level as Norton

Can't see why everytime Norton is matched with a puncher its a early night for
him. Morrison stopped in 1st and Klitschko , Lewis stopped in 2nd rd in Title
fights don't get same treatment ?
Norton would out box Coetzee before stopping a fatigued GC late.
    * Biopic for Coetzee starring Aust Liam Helmsworth is going into production
and Boxing film to watch out for when released.

I'm just waiting to see you say something that makes absolutely no sense. It hasn't happened yet.

Getting KO'd by Foreman and Shavers is no disgrace but Jose Garcia? A past-it Quarry had him badly hurt. So did Scott LeDoux. Norton's chin wasn't china like some say but it was still pretty vulnerable.

I completely Agree. Gerrie Coetzee was just about in the "Warrior category" I sure rooted hard for Weaver, elated and very surprised when he knocked out a very tough Coetzee. Did not Coetzee have a title off the Dokes fight?

I just watched him against Knoetze,he looked distinctly ordinary,he didnt even have a left hook prior to the Dokes fight.
