Cooney was a hell of alot more impressive against Holmes than Go-Go was against Bowe. People forget that even with the point deductions, Cooney was ahead on all three scorecards.

Golota was better skill-wise, but mentally unstable. I'd pick Cooney.

Good point, Cooney certainly wasn't mentally tough.

Yes Bowe was fading no doubt, it was evident in the third Holyfield fight and few before also.

I don't think Cooney hit harder than Bowe, with the left hook probably, but Bowe had a better right and combinations.

Golota was able to show nice defensive skills against Bowe- lateral and head movement, slipping, rolling, countering...
And it would take far less combos to finish Cooney

I always liked Golota`s ability. He had the talent to be a champion.

No, actually you are right and my memory was off.

    Holmes was ahead
    113-111
    113-111
    115-109.

Cooney had 3 points deducted for low blows, so Cooney would have been winning the fight without the deductions.

While Cooney would have been winning without deductions he shouldn't have been. It would have been extremely poor scoring.

I would go with Cooney early .. Golata is the all time front runner quitter to me .. I'd see Cooney land early and hard and Andrew would quit.
