Oh come on chok!!! Eddie Gregg was never a legit top 10 fighter and lets not even begin to pretend he was.

You've only confirmed how absolutely ridiculous the alphabet ranking where.

It's ironic the same guy who makes fun of Daniels a legitimate contender, is jumping through hoops to try to make Eddie Gregg a top ten fighter.

By 1980s standards, the era we are talking about, Gregg was probably as legit as some of the belt holders were when they challenged for belts. Tucker being one example. Tubbs being another. Dokes too.

    That's a fair point.

To be fair, Daniels was also decent contender for five minutes. And like Gregg his profile was low enough to register beneath the radar as well.

Oh chok Tucker and Tubbs are miles better than Eddie.

Tubbs beat Page and Tucker beat Douglas for heavens sake. Gregg is not remotely in their class and it's not even debatable.

As a matter of fact a lot of people would pick those two, or at least one of them over the Cooney Gregg fought.

I’m talking about how they were perceived before they challenged for titles. Or so called titles. As in who thought Tucker was qualified enough to fight for a vacant belt? Who thought Dokes and Tubbs were outstanding challengers? Okay, they proved they could win one fight, we now know they were better than Gregg, but did they really eclipse Gregg level before it? I don’t think so

Dokes was considered a possible heir apparent!!!!

Tubbs was an extremely decorated amateur and Tucker was a good one as well.

Tucker was well inside the Ring #10 when he challenged.

But that matters not. Both proved themselves FAR better fighters than Eddie Gregg. Both were legitimate top 10 and top #5 fighters. Gregg wasn't.

    The end.

Gregg was two time New York golden gloves as well.

    for what? Elaborate on this.

he only got a MD over Tex Cobb. What else he do? Draw with Ocasio? Lose to Leon Spinks in the Amateurs?

Greg wasn’t a world beater by any standard. At best he was fringe. But I don’t consider Daniels or Miteff who were losing many of their recent fights to necessarily be worthy of a higher rating. And it should be noted that Cooney was coming off of an extended layoff and won that fight in a single round.

Please let me know when Gregg beat the number one contender, or even had wins over ANY top ten contenders. I'll wait.
