Dubois busts him up behind the jab and takes him out, Cooney was taller, but didn’t extend his straight punches, he can’t box with Dubois on the outside, and if he pressures Dubois, he isn’t stronger and he’d just be walking into the stronger more durable man.
Dubois picks him apart behind the jab since he had more extension and follows behind it with straight punches and beats Cooney’s hooks to the punch with them, on the inside Dubois bullies him with strength so Cooney can’t get hooks off.

Cooney at his best would destroy Dubois.
And most of the heavyweights in the top
    ten in today's era.

Cooney destroys Dubois. Dubois is made for Cooney.

Good fight, proper slugfest. Really hard to call.

Early rounds would be total chaos. Cooney would test the body of Dubois like no other, it would be very dirty with low-blows and head-butts over the place. Cooney's left hook both to head and body would be an issue for Dubois, although Dubois has a very powerful jab if not the most technical jab but in the end they are both very very capable of knocking each other out and it would be difficult to see this fight lasting long.

I'll say the Dubois that beat AJ would be able to get to that punch first and stop Cooney in the early to mid rounds.

Name me the fight where Dubois picked a world class fighter apart with the jab.

Cooney could box very well behind the jab when he had a mind to it - see the Jimmy Young fight.

I don’t see this as being a lock pick either way but I’d be rooting for Gerry. :D

He was landing offensive jabs on Joshua who is much better at extending his punches than Cooney.
Also, the eye test is an important factor in determining outcomes, Frazier never beat a puncher as good as Lyle, but we’d all pick him to beat Lyle.

I think DDD wins simply because he has become an overachiever and Gerry was a perennial underachiever!! Style also, I may be in a minority but I don't think Dan has a poor chin, and I don't think he's weak to the body. Big, strong, hits hard and more importantly disciplined in a way Cooney never was...

I think Dubois's recent performances have flattered him quite honestly Miller was a 300+ pound blubber ball, i never thought much of Hrgovic apart from he has a good chin and even that fight had some controversy with the headbutts, Joshua is a good win but he's 35 and hasn't beaten anyone notable in years you could compare that to Cooney destroying older fighters like Lyle, Norton.

Neither man has the best chin but i think for now Cooney showed a higher level against Holmes in which he was very competitive for 10 rounds so i'm picking Cooney by stoppage.

But i'll be happily proved wrong let's see what Dubois does against Parker who i think is a good test for him.

Cooney was too easy to hit. He'd end up like Johsua.

Either Daniel’s chin implodes early or Dubois breaks him down and stops him late.

Cooney would bust Dubois up on the inside, he's faster and would target that body, Cooney actually had better defense than aj going off the Holmes fight, he parried a lot of those power punches but Holmes was just too sharp and too fast.

Daniel can take Cooneys power I think his 2 of his 3 stoppage losses came mostly from getting outboxed and accumulated damage. He got a really good chin and I think hes the better boxer and more determined fighter in there.

Spinks destroyed Cooney with the Jiinx. DD has a good jab and over-hand right. Very dangerous fight for Cooney. He can't walk through his punches like he did with Larrys. He never beat anybody has good as DD either.
    DDD stoppage
