21:06 miss, 21:09 again, 21:26 too far out, 22:28 a yard off, 22:46 first right hand, 22:54 lands first right, 23:03 miss, awful! 23:15 misses right hand, 23:23 lands glacing jab, 23:41 glancing jab, 23:44 misses combo, misses 1-2. 23:57 misses right hand hook gets nearer. That was Haye v Wlad in their first round, he hardly landed a punch because of Wlad`s defense and longer jab, the same could happen v Cooney except his jab wasn`t as long or consistent meaning Haye might have got closer with these shots early, he may even have scored a 1st round KO despite being nowhere near Holmes` level, it could could end early one way or the other, whoever lands the big punch first, but these punches Haye missed Wlad with early could have him walking onto Cooney`s hook.
Haye will find his teeth in the seats and his mouthpiece in the parking lot. A prime aggressive Cooney is more a threat than Wlad . Gerry will go for the kill and not be cautious. Haye gets blasted out worse than Norton.
Fabulous. Real gunfight but Haye's in trouble here. He's not Mike Spinks. Gerry was well used to blasting shorter, lighter guys. The other reason he's in trouble is that he was never a really genuine Heavyweight. Cooney, for all his technical shortcomings was a proper big beast with serious big beast power. Gerry's chin wasn't as bad as some would have you believe either. Haye really struggled to be aggressive when up against when up against much bigger guys. He out boxed Valuev but hey, that was Valuev. The effort against Klitschko was pretty embarrassing, as were the excuses. David is going to have to get in range and put in on Cooney. Trouble is, I don't think he has the angles or power to take Gerry out with a single shot so he ends up trading. He's going to get tagged. Either way, this fight is over inside 4. I favour the pre Holmes Gerry Cooney to be standing when the smoke clears at the end of what could be a wild and exciting fight.
Depends on how intimidated Haye would be. If he’s not he has a chance to catch Cooney being overly aggressive. Haye was an explosive athletic fighter. He could catch Cooney and turn the tide of the fight. Still favor Cooney
**** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** ****KKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot take anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Haye knocks him out, Cooney leans forward and crouches and gives up his height and reach and looks to get off that left to the body, he is there to be countered, when he misses because he is in the opponents punching range after he misses because he is in a bent hunched over position and Haye is a very fast counterpuncher and Cooney is there to be countered, he doesn't move after he punches, not elusive whatsoever, I cannot stress anymore, he is there to be countered, terrible style matchup for Cooney, no defence, no chin, it's only a matter of time
Fair enough, but it still showed Haye lack of ability to get inside on a guy that`s 6`6 with 81inch reach even if they don`t have Wlad`s jab, Haye was lunging from miles out I could see him walking right onto Cooney`s hook.
Haye did ok against out-of-prime, low-end opposition - but I doubt he's ever going to live down his 'pinky toe' performance against Wlad. Would Haye be any more game against a fearless, self-believing Cooney? (Not sure.) I'm not saying Cooney replicates Wlad's performance. It's a whole different fight, but Cooney can bring Wlad's kind of physical dimensions to the ring, along with a total intent to deliver hurt. (Wlad was a little more tentative and took his time, I think). Cooney wastes no time getting on the offensive and Haye never gets settled. The latter takes some game-changing lefts, early, to mark the beginning of the end. Cooney W KO 4.
