Gerry Cooney vs. Ike Ibeabuchi

Ike, probably around the 5th rounds. If Gerry had developed a little more, maybe he could pull out a decision win.

 

I’m thinking Ike’s too durable, powerful for Cooney especially taking into account his output.

 

The booze and coke ruined Cooney. Ike.

Ibeabuchi s superior Chin and sustained pressure would be the deciding factor s.
As Cooneys gas tank empties Ike takes over, landing punishing shots, causing the ref to jump in and rescue 'Gentlemen 'Gerry from a brutal finish.

I'm not sure we saw enough of Ibeabuchi or Cooney in his prime to make a call on this one.

 

Ike by stoppage. I dont think Ike beats prime versions of guys like Lewis, Tyson, Foreman, and Bowe, but I'd say with a lot of confidence that he beats Cooney.

 

Ike late stoppage, Cooney probably can't bomb him out but it would be close because Cooney had underrated boxing skills

 

I might have to favor Ike here. A guy who has power to hurt Gerry while ALSO having the chin to take his punches is nothing but trouble for Cooney.
