The "bingo" would have landed before the hook, IMO, and a very woozy Cooney gets counted out..anywhere from the 1st to the 3rd.
cooney showed a very servicable jab but ingo's movement was far superior lean towards ingo in the first 6. if cooney makes it past that, late TKO for gerry
Oh, it would be touch and go for sure Vic,..you can bet that whoever landed first would probably win it...I give ingo credit for the smart footwork he exhibited in that 1st Patterson bout, and use of the jab, but Cooney was a big guy, like you say.
I like Cooney in this one. On his best day, he crushes Ingo, who was every bit as one-dimensional as he was, and smaller too.........
A little, puffed up lightheavyweight and a bald, fat and ancient grill salesman can beat the **** out of Cooney, and the man who destroyed Eddie Machen and Floyd Patterson one time couldn't land that Hammer of Thor?
I would make Johansen a strong favourite actualy. Johansen was the guy of the two who delivered when the chips were down. There is nothing in Cooneys resume to suggest that he would beat Johansen. He failed whenever he stepped up, and he got chances against every stylistic type he might have theoreticaly been able to capitalize on.
Are you selling your opinion to others or is this how you handicap your selections ? U know that this is no way to accurately gage Cooney's career if you know anything about it.
