that's fair. it should be prime for prime.

the powerful, steadily jabbing cooney of the holmes fights vs ingo of the first patterson fight

ingo outmoves cooney, lands a solid right and puts cooney on the backfoot (where he was terrible) by round 2. in round 3, he finishes the job

cooney was one hell of a prospect. I wish he got some rounds against live contenders like snipes and berbick before taking on holmes, he would have showed more seasoning to go with the heart he proved he had in losing to holmes.

That gerry did not then I am afraid that the right hand holmes put cooney down with early in their fight demonstrates that the primed ingo who found the proven yet unbeaten jaws of machen and patterson has a picnic against cooney.

ingo was far too wary and focused to walk into cooneys left hook early and would have had that right hand of his primed and cocked for an opening. If holmes finds the gap so does 1959 prime ingo.

Cooney's size and left hooks cause Ingo's Twitching Foot Part 2.

The three best heavyweights floyd patterson beat.
    1 Ingo johannson,
    2 eddie machen
3 jimmy ellis. -ok he did not get the decision but who thinks he did not win?

chuvalo, cooper and bonnavena were great wins. The quarry fights were disputed also.

Joe frazier has a great resume even before he met ALI but floyd had 90% of the same names on his c.v.

Floyd was a great heavyweight - After the ingo triology only ali and sonny liston beat him decisivly.

Some here are describing Johansson as someone who would outslick and outmove Cooney.. Not sure if that description fits the bill.. Johansson was not especially known for his speed or technical skills... And Cooney could move well for a guy his size, would have the reach, and possesed a pretty good jab and left hook to boot.

He defeated an old version of Machen. Cus would not let him near a prime Machen.
He lost to Ellis, a blown up middleweight.
    Ingo, big ****.

He squeezed by Chuvalo and Bonavena by a whisker. Cooper was no huge win ..
