1: While at their best at heavyweight
2: Cooney from the Spinks fight.

    Who you got?

James could be arrested for the beating that he would put on him.

Not really arrested, but he would put a severe beating on Cooney.

    1. Cooney was a force of nature early on before drugs and mental issues took over. I do believe he would be too much for even a roided Toney.

    2. Spinks version of Cooney could be captured by Toney. I give it 60/40 fight in James' direction.

The Cooney of the Spinks fight was the worst possible version, so I would definitely pick Toney. Now the Cooney who fought Young, Lyle Norton or Holmes I'd go with Gerry.

Toney counters the relatively predictable Cooney, shoulder rolls that right of Cooney’s, counters with the uppercut, blocks/rolls the left hook, then eats him up on the inside before escaping out.

Cooney by decision. I say this having recently watched Holmes v Cooney. Just too many advantages over Toney in my opinion. Heck Gerry may even stop Toney. I don’t see Toney winning this in any circumstance.

edit: re read Cooney of Spinks fight - I would probably have to reconsider now

If they’re supposed to be at their best then it’s not the Spinks version of Cooney we’re looking for

He’s become an underrated fighter. The man wasn’t just some mindless goon with no skill and no heart. He actually had good footwork. Excellent jab and left hook. And plenty of power

    It's two separate questions.

I see it now thanks. If we’re looking at the Spinks version of Cooney then I think Steve Zouski might have had a chance against him

Yeah Cooney is adamant it's the worst he ever was. He's never been one to bang on about losses either so i find it quite believable.

Yes I did notice that after my initial reply, hence the edit.

I meant round 1: X, and round 2: Y. I can see how my wording or rather lack of it could be confusing.
