Cooney was terrific when allowed to have his way. Looked great unloading on Young on the ropes, although Young took the punches very well. Shame about the cut.

 

My man Jimmy Young had a CHIN!! There he was...past his prime...half blind...with alll the physical disadvantages and Cooney NEVER HURT HIM!!! Yes...a shame about that cut. It was a freak thing..and end of the road thing...and it would have been 180 degrees different about 3 years earlier..even that night in 1980 it would have been a different result without that cut.

Like I stated before if anybody got hurt in that fight it was Gerry Cooney. Young, would have whipped Gerry Cooney with ease a few years prior, hell I believe if it wasn't for the cut Young would have won that night.
