I hate picking Cooney by TKO, as Kenny is the better fighter, but it is difficult to go against the consensus.

To this day that was one of the most brutal KO's I have ever seen. Cooney never looked as good as he did that night.

I agree. I don't think all THAT highly of Cooney, but his destruction of Norton was simply brutal.

The brutality was that Norton was trapped in a wedged position
and taking extra unblocked shots. The ref was too slow in stepping in.

    Very true,

At times Cooney was even missing a few of those hooks and upper cuts, despite having a helpless fighter trapped in a corner. As for the ref being too slow to step in, well I'm not sure how much faster he was supposed to be. The whole fight only lasted 54 seconds, and it wasn't until the last maybe 8 or 9 seconds that Cooney had him trapped.

I agree! Styles make fights and Cooney's style was all wrong for Norton. Plus, Norton froze in front of every big puncher he ever faced.

Cooney would still beat Norton, but it would takes two to three extra rounds.

Yes. Ken was a much better fighter, and achieved more than Gerry, but Cooney was a nightmare, stylewise for Norton.
