The very best of both guys.
Would Cooney s power prove too much for the other Spinks brother ?
Or could Leon defy the odds?

Yeah I think this may be a mismatch. Guessing Cooney wins early

I always like to try and give the under dog a chance, look for a way he could possibly have won.
But Leon, at his very short term best, isn't winning imo.
In fact it could be over within minutes.

Sometimes Leon could surprise people ( and he might ) but on the surface this looks like a repeat of the Coetzee fight.

    Cooney early and brutally.

Do be honest I think Qawi would do better against Cooney than Neon Leon!

Over 15 I might back a 200ish pound Qawi against Cooney to be honest, if the odds were decent.

The Greatest wasn't even good by 1977. Leon Spinks beat a shell.

I think his point was just that it wasn’t supposed to happen. And Leon was a seven fight novice and a small heavyweight

He surprised WHAT WAS LEFT of the greatest.
Prime Ali destroys Spinks, any version up until 1975 beats him .

It is certainly not a mismatch.

Cooney lost every important fight of his career.

I don't think that he ever beat a man with a top ten ranking.

The same is more or less true of Spinks, outside of eh obvious exception.

Cooney obviously has a stylistic advantage, but where did that ever get him?

It is not so much a question of who wins, as a question of who loses.

Cooney is a terrible matchup for Spinks. Spinks only chance is to get into Cooney's suspect mandible before Cooney's knocks him out. The trouble there is that Spinks was a bit powder fisted.

My heart is with Leon but his ribs and jaw are with Cooney’s wrecking ball of a left hook.

Good night Leon, you’re going to bed early this time.
