Prime for Prime: Cooney who just destroyed Ken Norton in one round. Against the Morrison who Defeated George Foreman in a suprising decision win. 12 Rounds.

Morrison ran from George. Against Cooney, Morrison might decide to trade and be KO'd. Cooney stops Morrison inside of 3 rounds.

    Cooney KO 1.

Tommy's glass jaw would be the reason why.

Cooney KO 1. They both go out for blood, but Cooney's better power and chin (I feel he has the slight edge in chin) win him the early fireworks, and get him the KO.

The question is who had better left hook? And I could go with Morrison!

But to me Morrison's stamina problems and weak chin would be his downfall against Cooney! Who I believe had solid chin and better stamina!

I'll pick Cooney by late KO.

I could see them going back in forth in a decent fight before Tommy collects a nice chinner.

Cooney. Tougher, better skilled and more apt to hammer Morrison early.

I also go with Cooney, mainly due to Gerry's size advantage. I think he would be able to reach Morrison much more than Morrison would be able to reach him. Would go about 3 rounds I suppose.

I wonder both might have done if they would have had better trainers early in their careers.

Cooney easily has the better left. No comparison.

    Could go either way.

Morrison had a beatiful leaping left hook. Good enough to land on the 6'6 Jaco in a one punch KO knockout, one of the most devestating you'll ever see.

Obviously Jaco's no Cooney, but he could leap in there with it with amazing accuracy.

Yeah, Tommy's left hook was as good as anyones. The speed/power of it was amazing.

That being said, Morrison didn't have much else, and the more durable Cooney takes him out early in a slugfest.

I'll pick the '81 Cooney to KO the '91 Morrison......... It's close... STILL! Cooney with his height and hook in 1981 was dangerous.... My guess is, Morrison freezes against the taller Cooney........ Morrison only looked great in 1993 against an OLD and SLOW George Foreman...... Back in 1981, Cooney was quicker and younger.......... Peace....
