Why would any promotor bad mouth Wilder ? Wouldn’t make sense.
    Fury called Wilder a ‘Dosser’.
All people talk about is his windmill right hand, his skill is never mentioned, as it is limited.
Any good fighter ( again, he has fought one in my humble opinion ) beats Wilder.
He will try and go back to knocking over tin cans, but lose even more respect by doing so.
I’m not a Fury or AJ fan, definitely not a Wilder one. Even less so following his pathetic excuses for his loss to Fury.
He has become a joke figure to most. Cooney KO6, although Wilder would blame his loss to Cooney on him being Irish, or it being too cold.

Cooney puts Wilder on his back foot early and takes him pot inside 4. Wilder can punch. He just can't fight.

Wilder would probably have won it on mindset, at least before Fury destroyed him!

Cooney more than held his own with a prime Holmes. He destroys that clown.

Cooney too easy to hit for Wilder with the right hand.

You are right, not be be mean, Deontay Wilder's young age would scare Gerry Cooney away, he likes his opponents ancient, it makes him look good to his fans. No brag, just fact. Jimmy Young and Ken Norton were not young contenders, they were well spent, there best days had passed.

    This seems exactly right Richard.
Cooney could have at least been taught to be more than a one handed fighter. Unlike Frazier who was often active with the right, Cooney did not do much with it. This alone-& more punch variety-would have made him somewhat better.

Even in his one sided whooping from Holmes he showed me more then Wilder ever has.
Deontay should go sit in his “Dark place” and retire already for our mercy obviously so he doesn’t bulk up to 240lbs and “get a body on his record” like he says he will. ****ing clown.

@McGrain Who do we talk to about being able to say D1ck? Without censorship or are we forever unable to say the Tiger mans name like he’s boxing Voldemort or something.

Cooney prior to the Holmes fight would wreak the vastly overrated
Wilder. Wilder would be equivalent to Jeff Sims in the 70's early 80's.
That is a powerful puncher with very little skill.
If the relatively light punching Fury had Wilder stumbling around like
a new born horse minutes after birth.
I hate to think what a real powerful puncher like prime Cooney would
    do to him.

NBC and television built Gerry Cooney, his management used him in a sense. Gerry as I have said before was a pure Cash Cow, he was no real contender, too clumsy, off balance when throwing punches. Poor Jimmy Young and Ken Norton, they were ready for Social Security, this game is full of crooks, his management should have been thrown in the slammer, money hungry crooks. But think about it, a peak Tim Witherspoon, Pinklon Thomas. and a Greg Page would have exposed a fake Gerry Cooney.
