Cooney becomes a bloody mess and gets stopped midfight.

Wlad is a seasoned boxer with a very tight disciplined and cautious style. He should outbox Cooney, probably KO him before the 12 rounds are up (maybe early, maybe late).

But it would be interesting and something of a novelty seeing Wlad up against someone as tall as himself and with a punch equal to his.

Cooney's only chance would be in the first two rounds after that he gets brutally KOed.

Coony´s got that left hook. He was a better fighter than most of the guys that The Klit Brothers ever fought.
I think Coony would´ve knocked out the Brothers. The fighters of the 70´s was of another breed than the Ukrainian Robots.

I think that an improved Klitschko under the instruction of Manny Steward, with a more coutious style, outboxes Cooney, and perhaps stops him late.... Anytime before 2005, I think its a toss up. A 25 year old Gerry Cooney at 6'7", 225 lbs, with a deadly left hook, lots of power and tendency to start fast is a nasty cocktail for a pre-Steward Klitschko... I think that if Gerry was in the ring with Wlad in March of 2003, he might have done a similar job on him as Sanders did... On the otherhand, if Cooney was fighting Wlad in place of Ruslan Chagaev in 2009, he loses.
