    Me too!:good

Lyle was nearly 40 Norton 37. Williams beat decent contenders and live bodies like once rated John Holman, Wayne Bethea, rated Billy Daniels, good fighter YJJ, stopped and lost a split dec to Terrell, and drew with Machen a top contender.
****ey carried his head high, Williams would take it off!

****ey achieved what he did before the 30 fight stage. He beat name guys. Young, Lyle, Norton, dino Dennis.. went life and death with prime Holmes. Gerry had retired and comeback yet it was all over by fight 31.

By comparison Williams didn't get a step up fight until fight 31 when he was knocked out by Satterfeild. He'd already lost to the supposedly safe opponent Sylvester Jones on the big cats first launch into the big time when Williams was showcased on the polo grounds card when Marciano beat Lastarza.

When you think about it Williams was a very long time prospect. There was a lot of careful match making and investment to launch and relaunch him after each set back with a KO reputation. He was built up initially to be a future challenger to Marciano but blew it against jones then Satterfeild. relaunched as Floyd's challenger but blew it against Liston. Relaunched to challenge Liston but drew with Machen...finally he was served up for Ali after he'd been shot by a policeman. I wonder if his investors got there money back on him. Poor Williams fought a lot of times.

He was incredibly active so you can't really compare the fight numbers.

It'd irrefutable that Williams has a ether resume though.

Daniels is basically the best win they have between them.

Beyond that they could both be better than their resumes indicate, or they could both be exactly what their resumes indicate, or one might be better than their resume indicates and the other not.

Who did Daniels ever beat? Tony Alongi?

Norton beat Cobb after Cobb beat Shavers who had beat him. So you might say Norton was on his way to redeeming himself when ****ey got him.

I know we are not talking champions here but any career where the signature win is Billy Daniels is historically running somewhat short..
