Can we not discredit that knockout loss considering Johnny was finished as a top draw fighter, and it took place at Featherweight?

By the same token, Gerry has never fought a fighter on the level of a prime Johnny Tapia at that weight. The best word to describe him would have been "rapid". He was so athletic, jumping in and out of range throwing 5-6 punch combination's at a time sometimes. He also has very good accuracy, and works to the body well, in addition. He is a skilled brawler, who has shown the ability to box plenty of times. The Danny Romero fight comes to mind.

I only see one winner, but Gerry would not be disgraced.

It's a 50/50 fight . . . and admittedly I'm being biased in picking Gerry.

I was talking prime for prime, but I still agree that Tapia would outwork Penalosa. Tapia was a really under-rated boxer, and his hand-speed was unbelievable. Great combination puncher.
