Agreed, if I ever coach, I'd have my kids watch Gerry tapes over and over. Beautiful boxing skills.

his defense is better than his offense. only a few fighters could claim that. most defense oriented fighters are the one who move a lot around the ring and ride their bike throught out the match. gerry is not like that. he defends well inside and he makes his opponents look foolish by missing wildly with their punches.

yup. that is me. i'm glad yall liked it. i really like writing about penalosa. the good things i can say about him can't seem to run out. add to that, he is a humble person.

Just got done his fight Gerry schooled his ass bad hitting him with alot of right hands and moves it so fluidly he seems to be a converted southpaw imo.

I want to see Gerry retire with the belt now.

Im not looking forward to a rematch with PDL, the 1st fight wasnt entertaining and i see it going the same way with PDL throwing alot of punches and Penalosa getting in all the effective shots.

If it connects, I do not see any fighter being able to withstand a liver punch. Gerry connected hard in this fight but it was the left side (not the liver area).

A properly placed liver punch (exactly below the right ribs) would be paralyzing even if the fighter anticipated it. However, the likelihood of hitting it is very remote because it is vwhere the elbow is usually neutrally positioned. That is why it is always through counterpunch where the left arm has been extended and and a sneak punch to the liver is delivered and the southpaw stance probably has the higher chance of connecting.

How would you rank him skillwise among all active fighters? Would you rank him higher than Pac, Rafa, JMM, etc?
