Jerry Quarry by 5th round kayo, after a couple of knockdowns. He amazingly survives Cooney's initial onslaught and starts his own a couple of rounds later.

Quarry was the better fighter when matched up to the rest of the field but I think he loses to Cooney head to head. Gerry’s height, reach, power, and style would make him hard to beat. And Quarry isn’t getting Cooney out of there in one round the way he did Shavers. It was actually fortunate for Jerry that he was able to do that

I really believe that Jerry Quarry was a much better fighter than Gerry Cooney, Jerry fought tough opponents that were not taking Geritol and Metamucil like Cooney's did. Quarry was a really good body puncher, the first battle ith Joe Frazier was a good fight in 1969. Gerry would have tripped on his feet as he was very awkward and clumsy. I see Jerry Quarry stopping Gerry Cooney late, TKO 10. Quarry's prime opponents were tougher than Gerry's assault on the geriatric population of opponents.
