Gervonta Boddah Davis vs. Ryan García Quesada

Ellerbe recounts a conversation when Ryan came up to him a few years ago,

"he thaid, look, he thaid, I wanna eff (sic) yo boy up and I thaid, look here thlim, you don't want none o that work!" and then says Tank has been just as adamant about making the fight happen whenever discussed.

 

Joe Goossen comes up looking like he just stepped off a yacht party, with a white shirt unbuttoned to his navel under a rumpled blue overshirt. He keeps it short & sweet and says both men are going to go down in the history of the sport and that starts next month. He says if he were just a fan he would "plunk out the money" and order the PPV.

 

Calvin Ford (Tank's coach) up. He gushes over how this young generation is bringing boxing back, his voice cracking as he goes full ghetto mode.

The phrase "y'all gotta embrace this energy right hurr!" appears thrice at least.

 

García's turn, he starts with a sly dig at his opponent apologizing to everybody for the delays in getting started.

He says he wanted to prove himself against Tank specifically for a very long time. He says the belts are less important than who you beat, and Tank has been his target regardless of what division they're in. He says to get this done he needed to accept lots of stipulations like rehydration clauses etc, but he was happy to so he could get the opportunity and do it for the fans.

He then interpolates a bit of lip service to Jesus Christ.

 

Gervonta - who is rocking a lavender-colored fur coat and Yankees cap, and throughout all of this has never removed his sunglasses - begins to stutter his way through effectively a mumble-rap about "staying focused, keeping our head down and continuing to grind".

 

Custer now interviewing the seated fighters. He asks why in their opinion this fight is so important.

Davis mutters "we bofe young" and says they're settling it before they become stepping-stones themselves for even younger fighters.

García says this is the moment, they both need to go for the crown while in their primes and it's all for legacy.

 

Custer asks them about the criticisms leveled at both - Davis' questionable opponent choices, and García being more of a social media darling than serious competitor.

Gervonta says that hopefully this will erase people saying his record is weak but he knows haters will find something to complain about so the plan is "keep my head down, continue grinding".

García says he knows he makes an easy target for doing TikTok and everything, but that he wouldn't be here on this stage if he wasn't legit.
