Gervonta Boddah Davis vs. Ryan García Quesada

Davis says he prefers to always "take it slow" in the ring but he'll be ready for however fast García wants to come at him.

Custer asks García to address the prediction he gave in another setting, where he picked himself by KO2 and said "if he's a Tank, I'm a RPG" (which is a cold as hell line) and García says "man you made it sound corny the way you delivered it" and then says that while he stands by the prediction he's prepared to go 12.

Davis and García have a little back and forth banter where Tank admonishes him for trash-talking and García retorts that somebody has to put effort into selling the PPV and he was at least on time. Davis says "you're supposed to be like that" (implicitly pulling his keep it real card) and García responds "what, professional? Yeah, sure am.."

 

Davis doesn't even remove his shades during the face-off. García grins down at him and begins thumping his chest, which causes Davis to start leaning forward yelling up into his face, squared up to him the whole time. García ignores him and turns 15 degrees away to pose for the cameras in between responding calmly to all his jibes.

Shook behavior from the champ.

 

This isn't going 12 rounds.

 

The analysts for Showtime acknowledge they aren't professional lip readers but think it looked as though what Davis was repeating over & over during the face-off was "You ain't that guy!!!".

Davis mumbles some apologies to everybody for oversleeping (it's currently noon in Las Vegas, meaning he showed up at twenty past 11am, which means he rolled outta bed at 11 assuming he's in a hotel nearby).

When asked directly if he told García "you not that guy" he claims he can't remember what he said.

Maybe the least articulate champion in boxing, certainly today if not in a whole generation.

 

Tank dismisses "Lou Camel" (presumably meaning Luke Campbell) as having thrown a shot he wasn't even anticipating to hurt García, then folded because he isn't 'gritty'.

He says García isn't on his level in skills.

He says "yeah so what" about García rallying in that fight, and then amends it to "he did bounce back like a champ... I guess ". He says García brings nothing but speed and power, and Instagram followers.
