Gervonta Boddah Davis vs. Ryan García Quesada

Oh yeah, to be clear: Gervonta himself is bound to no such contractual rehydration limit.

Starting ...only twenty minutes late.

 

Ariel Helwani says he hopes Spence and Crawford and their teams were watching yesterday's presser, and today's, and feel ashamed at not sitting down to figure it out and make that fight happen.

He gives García the bulk of credit here for driving the train forward as the younger, less active and experienced fighter with every reason to dodge such a match-up at this point in his career (with built-in excuses of fighting on a different network, etc.) and not even wanting to risk taking a tune-up in case he gets injured or something.

 

Almost half an hour now of Brian Campbell and Ariel Helwani chatting to kill time. García now being shown on a hotel room balcony, apparently he's waiting on Davis to arrive before coming down into the presser area.

Ariel "flexes" by speed-dialing Ryan, but he doesn't pick up. He then backpedals and says maybe García didn't remember to save his new number and didn't recognize it.

 

García gets a text and answers the phone finally, facetiming in from the balcony. He acknowledges that he isn't showing up until Davis does first, and that he's pissed and feels disrespected about yesterday in NYC. He says Davis ought to know he couldn't put on event of this magnitude without him so he needs to cut the disrespectful ****.

 

Principals seated on the dais, at last. Entire hour late.

 

A bit of physicality onstage as Davis marches right up to García, chirping at him (with shades on again) and then pantomiming a left hook to within a millimeter of his jaw. García laughs and does the same and Tank becomes very animated, slapping Ryan's hand down and going on a tirade. García shadowboxes at him.

 

Just informing people the salient broad strokes for whoever didn't know about the presser or can't tune in right now.

 

So far TGB, DLH and B-Hop all have spoken in the span of about 4 minutes. Very brief words, they're keeping it moving far more rapidly than yesterday, probably because of the delayed start.
