for me its a safety thing. your brain needs the right balance of water and various elements in order to function correctly. when you dehydrate yourself it starts to malfunction. the brain does not rehydrate at the same rate that the rest of your body does, so it wont get back to proper form overnight. its a dangerous situation to deny a fighters body the chance to fully rehydrate before sending him into battle.
the test should be if the fighter can make the agreed upon weight on day of weigh in. if he cant do it safely, then thats the fighter and his teams fault. but if you force him to do it unsafely, thats your fault.

That's a two way street, too much weight as well as not enough, can weaken a fighter.

Rehydration clauses prevent too much weight cutting, which accomplishes the exact safety effect you are rightly worried about.

Bad look for "bad boy" tank. Can't even fight the Instagram pretty boy without handicaps.

Would be hilarious if Ryan came in overweight and took whatever penalty was imposed on him then KO'd tank into oblivion.

how so? youre gonna cut whatever weight you need to in order to fulfill the contract, how does a rehydration clause prevent you from doing that

Why have a weigh-in the day before the fight if you're going to have a rehydration clause and make both fighters weigh in the day of the fight?

    Seriously.

Just decide what weight you ACTUALLY want to compete at (because apparently none of them can actually fight remotely close to the lightweight limit). If they both want to actually fight at 145 or 146 or 147, then make that the weight limit.

And then weigh-in the day of the fight.

Moving weigh-ins back a day has been a failed experiment. It's pointless. Nobody weighs remotely close to that when the fight begins anyway.

So what's the point of the freakshow weight-loss contest before every fight ... if people are just going to gorge themselves with fluids and food over the next day and half before the bell rings?

Just decide what your ACTUAL best fighting weight is ... and make THAT the weight limit. And weigh in the day of or afternoon of the fight ... like they're going to do here.

LIKE they did for HUNDREDS of years.

Because fighters will undertake dangerous big cuts, and you can only go without water for so long. Otherwise these clauses would have no teeth.

this has been explained hundreds of times. if you have same day weigh ins, fighters are going to cut weight to make that same day weigh in, then wont have time to rehydrate. which leads to deaths in the ring because the brain doesnt have the fluid to cushion blows to the head.

i still dont see how rehydration clause stops weight cutting. theyre still gonna cut the weight, the clause just makes it harder for them to fully recover. thats all it does.
people love to talk about skills paying the bills, but will defend weakening an opponent through contracts, like its a skill.

Making a comparison with Duran/Leonard and Davis/Garcia. You sure you just don't want to delete your post? I'm sure if you know anything about boxing, I shouldn't need to explain myself.
