Tank chose Barrios not his Promoter. Leonard Ellerbe said he did not want Tank to move up to 140 to face Barrios but Tank insisted. So he clearly has a say.
Again this has more to do with The fighters under that particular promoters stable politics brothers.
But it isn't about politics really. If the fighters wanted the fights enough, they'd happen. It's more that the fighters are more bothered about the highest reward fights for the lowest risk, which is their prerogative. As a boxing fan I just want the best fights and right now Davis isn't involved in them.
agreed Davis is not a part of the best fighting the best fighters are fighter for a reason. & that reason isn’t fear. It’s because that is the best way they can put food on the table. if you think the promoters aren’t pulling the strings in their fighters careers what do you think they are doing with their time? what is their role? there is a reason once a fighter becomes large enough, he typically becomes his own promoter. (De la Hoya, Mayweather, Paquiao) until Tank “wins” his freedom He is a $lave to his promoter.
Barrios was a dam good fighter, and going in I thought he had a decent chance at an upset. That was a great fight by Davis and it shouldn't be tarnished by trying to dismiss and degrade his opponent
Maybe, but Ellerbe is paid employee, and he will do what's he told and parrot whatever the company line is. Of course, we can't know if Twink actually has any autonomy or if it is just put into the media that he does. Perhaps, someone should pass him a note at his next press conference - on the note it would read "blink twice if you are being held hostage".
Leonard Ellerbe is not just a paid employee, he is one of the major shareholders alongside Floyd Mayweather in Mayweather promotions as well as the CEO. Telling fighters what to do and treating them as servants is the old model of the old school promoters. On the PBC side fighters become bosses and they keep more of the bread. I know you are not comfortable with that and prefer the old days but those days are in retreat.
yeah some guys have to take the hard road. Josh Taylor is one of those Guys. As was Crawford before Welterweight (Plus the Arum stable afforded them to / Made them) Tank is a KO Artist who wins sensationally people will tune in & pay no matter who he is fighting. he is a Bigger draw then Josh Taylor & Terrance Crawford combined ... it Sucks for them I know.
Tanks fun to watch Entertainment for sure but special? I dont think so at this point Maybe i use the term differently to some
Only as far as Gervontae “Tank” Davis is concerned . according to you Everyone else is their own boss giving all the fans the fights that they want when they want them. So that’s better then nothing.
You know I'm "not comfortable with that" do you? You know that I "prefer the old days"? You sure seem to know a lot for someone who is completely clueless. I'll tell you what I know, shall I, which is when you make sweeping assumptions based on your own prejudices you end up looking like a fool. Well done, you made yourself look stupid.
