Not yet, but Mayweather would like nothing better than to destroy Arum's cash cow. 1 year tops, and MP will be banging on TR's door. and if Arum don't answer, they going to kick the mother humper in!
That's a bold statement! Still doesn't mean it won't come true. Davis is still young and with a good promotion company. Loma is a little monster, I can't go against him right now. I will reserve my pick after I see how Davis progresses. If GD gets even better, a fight with Loma would be great. Right now Loma wins.
Pedraza was a weak champ, but Floyd is doing a great job not puttin Davis in with the killers just yet. Blown up, former champs or gatekeepers should be Davis diet for now. But he does show potential. Seems like a natural featherweight to me.
According to Floyd himself he isn't ready yet for a fight with Loma and I agree. It won't happen any time soon. scene http://www.boxing scene.com/mayweather-not-looking-make-gervonta-davis-lomachenko--112697
Davis was the underdog and just last week 80% of ESB had predictions of the sharpshooter winning and schooling Davis. As usually the case at ESB, now he is soft and not too skilled. As a matter of fact, these same ESB'ers had Smith beating Davis, easily.
I don't think Pedraza was a weak champ, in fact he's pretty damn skilled, but that fight just proved that Davis is a special kind of fighter. And if he can stay away from the temptations in his personal life, and stay on the straight and narrow, the sky is the limit!!
Pedraza certainly wasn't a weak champ. He had done far more than a typical champ. He seems the average champ for todays era.
Not really 80%, if you go to kirk's league it was probably about 35:40% of us picking Davis, including myself
Davis is a star in the making, could be one of the p4p best if he keeps his head screwed on and stays focused. BUT Lomachenko is a once in a lifetime fighter, they don't come along all that often. Davis doesn't come close to him now and my suspicion is he probably never will. Loma is too special, I don't see anyone beating him. Crawford and Loma are two I think will who'll be the clear p4p top two.
Good observation, I thought Pedraza would be too much to soon and boy was I wrong. That doesn't change my opinion of Jose I still think he's a fine fighter with a great skill set, heart, versatility and even after taking a TKO loss he's still quite durable. That was an impressive win using mostly his God given abilities to basically over power a well schooled champ.
Full moon today, I agree I'll be honest I could see Davis spiraling out of control without the right role models guiding his way personally and professionally. Going back to the part of Baltimore where he's from will do him no good, the guy is young impressionable and unfortunately not yet well versed. After the fight walking down the tunnel he looked like a dear caught in headlights.....I wish him well.
