That's a very smart move by Floyd. It's easy for fans to get carried away because it's not our bank account, health, and careers at the end of the day. Davis has a golden ticket now, but he's still young. Best to build up a nest egg now for a couple of years while still developing. 130 is deep enough for solid financial and developmental opportunities before gunning for the king. I get why fans don't appreciate Mayweather's mentality, and while it ultimately isn't good for the sport if everyone takes that to the extreme, his job is to look out for his fighter, and that's what he's doing. Throwing him in with Loma too early is a terrible move on a number of levels despite it being an entertaining matchup for us.
Loma would have Davis rethinking his career choice lol. Davis is good, but Loma is briliant! I said it once and i'll say it again. There are levels
@liquidfire it's not out of the question davis clearly is a big puncher and would be the best loma has fought as a pro, in a couple of years he could ko lomachenko
True. The fact is, Lomo only has 8 pro fights, with 1 loss. To me, that does not make an ATG or even a once in a lifetime talent. So far, his inactivity has proven nothing of the sort. All this hype is just wishful thinking. To impress me, Lomo has to seriously pick up the pace, fight more than 1-2 times/year, and step up the quality of opposition he's so far faced. Salido took that "0", and if Salido can do it, I'm positive that others can as well. So, he is hardly unbeatable.
Davis isn't ready for Loma and if he fought him next he would lose. Davis still needs a lot of work and still is pretty green. He gets hit too much and needs to use better movement. I'd love to see this fight late 2018 by then he should be close to a finished product.
I don't think he's even ready for someone like Salido or Miura. That kind of physical fight can be hard to recover for a young prospect, win or lose.
He might not be. Salido is a tough rugged SOB who will get into the trenches with Davis. Not only that he may be much bigger than Davis on fight night.
Stylisticly, he should but I thought the exact same about Francisco Vargas. Never underestimate that old, dirty SOB.
