If this weekend fights get you so pump. You probably cream your pants in anticipation of Oscar Tito or Holyfield Tyson 2 lol
I am 13 when Chavez Taylor 1, the first non Tyson live telecast I can remember. I have never been as tense for fights except for Holyfield Tyson 2.
Just not interested. How are you guys interested in either of these fights? Mares is past prime. Julian Williams - is he even good? Charlo should fight another belt holder.
Mares has a chance but I imagine cuellar will be too big for him, J-rock is an all round solid operator does everything well, I think with the brain of his trainer that makes him a great prospect/contender. He lost to Errol Spence in the golden gloves funnily enough.
Wouldn't even see it as much of an upset. People are tossing round terms like "shot"....losing a competitive decision to LSC doesn't make you suddenly shot. He got caught against Gonzalez who is a good puncher. It happens. I see Cuellar as ever so slight favourite but Ive picked him on Kirks thread because he has a good enough chance to be worth going contrarian!
You know what's really good about these two fights? The haters on this forum don't have a dog in the hunt and the guys that really appreciate boxing won't be exposed to all that negative yakety yak. Hopefully we will be able to discuss the pros and cons of these fights like gentlemen and quite possibly add to out knowledge of boxing.
One unknown in Charlo Williams is that apparently Charlo had very poor eyesight which he fixed via LASIK earlier this year. It's his first time in the ring with 20/20 vision. Having poor eyesight myself (similar to Charlo's), I can't help thinking that this is a big bonus for him.
I have a feeling either of these (but moreso Cuellar vs. Mares) could end up being another Lomachenko vs. Walters type case of false hope on the fans' part for a surefire competitive match that ends up just being disappointingly one-sided.
Really this entire weekend I'm wary of, all the fights could be duds but everyone seems to be hyped for them all. Maybe just growing into a cautious old curmudgeon.
Or, they could turn out to be intriguing, competitive fights that would require the winner to be on point. I'm guessing the latter.
Julian Williams you think is better than Charlo and Lara? (I haven't seen him fight before, admittedly).
