Clottey's inactivity played a major role in Pac's volume. It's much easier to throw 110 punches a round when nothing is coming back.

Nice comparison to Williams and Wright though. I'd definitely rank Clottey at the level of an old, fat, and badly faded Winky Wright who can't pull the trigger anymore.

 

Listen you dirty ****, we get that Pac's output played an important role in limiting Clottey's offensive.

However, there were numerous occasions when Clottey had the opportunity to mount some sort of offence and simply refused.

 

Brave is the last word I would associate with Clottey's performance.

Disagree. Clottey's inactivity doesn't mean a guy will throw 100 punches a round. He had those lapses in other fights, and his opponent didn't throw as many. Cotto didn't. Judah didn't. Margarito did, but that's his style. And not coincidentally a guy who won a clear decision. Pac sould have thrown his average of about 60 and still surpassed Clottey's output.

Getting emotional makes you less brave? That guy beat Hernandez with a broken hand. Clottey completely stopped punching Margarito when he merely hurt his hand in some unidentified way.

Besides, why do you have to bring Floyd into everything? He could be the biggest ***** in boxing, hell, maybe he is, but that doesn't mean that Clottey didn't fight like a timid little vagina.

 

And pacquiao took on everyone he could.

In the interest of accuracy I'm going to have to correct this and state that Morales did not go out on his shield twice. In the 3rd fight, even though it was clear he could continue in what would most certainly have been an inevitable loss, Morales opted to remain on the canvas. Morales fought his fight and Clottey fought his. There was no departure from the norm from either of them except Morales' decision to quit. Clottey fought in the same fashion in which he always fights, its just that against most opponents that's enough to win. But then again most opponents aren't Manny Pacquiao. I can't in clear-conscience state that Clottey fought a "survival effort." I could only state that if the turtle style that he employed last night was different from what he's been using for years. Truth be told, it wasn't. The only thing that changed was the viewership.

 

Clottey flat out said "I will throw 4 punches to his 30, but my 4 will land". He SAID THAT. He told people exactly what the fight would look like. I'd say that it looking the way it did had a lot with Clottey planning to fight that way, yes?

Roach knew the same thing about Clottey that many posters on this forum did: As long as you keep throwing he'll stay behind his hands. He doesn't generally counter WHILE the guy is punching. He lets you punch, then he punches. If you keep punching, he will keep blocking. Cotto couldn't do this because he doesn't have the stamina and, post margarito, the confidence to implement a plan like that.

We already knew that Pac had the stamina to throw that many punches, and he can follow a gameplan to a tee. It was an impressive performance from Pac, but also entirely predictable.

Like I said, what did we learn from this fight? Paul Williams would do it to him, Margarito did it to him...Pac did it better, but we already KNEW Pac was better than those guys.

 

Did Floyd fight last night? Why are you bringing him up? Clottey fought scared. Who the **** cares what Floyd has done? How is it relevant?

 

Clottey took on the number one fighter of the decade and had 1231 punches thrown at him.

i'm suprised floyds name wasn't mentioned. you mention him more than his fan boys lulz.
we aren't pro's at the sport, we didn't train to fight the number 1 guy in the sport, we don't have people pay to watch us stand there and do almost absolutly nothing after five rounds.

 

This is like being mad at marquez for losing every round to mayweather.
