I might not be able to do every decade. This is turning out to be way harder than I thought it was. I'll try to 1910s and maybe more tomorrow. I know that it will get way easier once I get to the 1940's and onwards.
Unfortunately I am going to undoubtedly need to push the deadline back at least several weeks, if not a month. My early 2023 is going to be far busier than I anticipated, so I intend to keep the Survey open until I know I have ample time to properly dig in and get it underway. In fact, right now, I'm thinking I may revert to tiered deadlines. Where the 1890s will close 1st, but I'll keep the other decades open until I am ready to go through them individually. But I'm still considering possibilities. At the very least, the current deadline will undoubtedly be pushed forward, and during that time I'm hoping new submissions continue to roll in.
Hello to all - I tried my best and certainly don't know it all but I have always loved boxing and the history/mystery/legends of the game. Look forward to seeing the end result. Great effort and lovely to hear of your passion for boxing being re-ignited. Some similarities and some big differences to my own list (page 3, I've just got the 2010's to do, which I'll finish this week). Have you excluded Ruben Olivares because you dont think him deserving or did just forget about him? I only ask to be helpful as I got to the end of my analysis on a decade and later realised I'd completely forgotten a fighter, on more than 1 occasion.
Hi Greg - I have to admit... In thinking about my list... I definitely overlooked some top notch fighters... Olivares being one of them. I am certain that I missed and probably messed up a few. Olivares is one of those fighters that I remember well... and yet I can't believe that I missed him. I love looking at everyone's lists - regardless of who makes them. I just find it so darn informative and interesting. Always brings me back to thinking more deeply about the sport I love. Please let me know of any other thoughts you might have. Love the conversation and thank you!
