    Agreed.

    - but I don't think the OP was referring to their boxing styles.

Wilder may or may not have what it takes (we still just don't know) but he's the first HW in a looooong time that you can actually get excited about. He has the potential to be just as exciting as Tyson, though in a slightly different way, and he is EXACTLY what the sport so desperately needs right now.

I think he means Michael Grant, if so then yes. Prime Grant had massive amounts of power, speed, **** poor chin.

I do like Wilder's chances of becoming champ however, theres no Lennox Lewis around.

Tyson had serious offensive skills when he was an up and comer, and didn't come close to being knocked out by bums. That said, I think the chances of Wilder becoming champ in this era is 50 50.

Wilder at this point is a modern day butterbean... a sideshow attraction. I don't get excited seeing a guy destroy an overmatched opponent who has absolutely zero chance of winning. at this point in his career Tyson was already unified champ.. Wilder is 5 years into his career and he still hasn't done jack ****...

Wilder is NOWHERE near as good as a prime Michael Grant was, and I think that says a lot. As far as his chances of becoming champion, I don't like them... I think he'll fold once he faces a guy who's good enough to avoid his shots and last more than 1-3 rounds unlike the stiffs he's used to facing. I mean even a guy like Kevin Johnson I have a hard time seeing Wilder beat.

Name one. (Besides Bogdan Dinu, who will likely never get a shot.)

It will always work, against anyone, because Wilder never does that until his opponent is completely defenseless. You can see this in many of his fights. He doesn't foolishly just flail away, he waits until his opponent is seriously hurt, then (and only then) he goes all wildman to make sure the guy never gets back up.

A lot of people talk **** about Wilder yet have never actually studied him. He is much, much, MUCH better than you think.

I've been up on Wilder since the Olympics. He's got two things you cant teach. Power and killer instinct. I like him, even if he ends up getting KO'd when he steps up.

Deontay's power is frightening and, let's be honest, most of Tyson's opponents were scared to death of him in the ring and his LOC was already low. Audley was coming off a huge win in Eddie Hearn's Prizefighter, where he had to fight 3 men in one night, and Deontay ended him in 1:10. Scary stuff.

No doubt this man would be talked about amongs the ATGs had he been born in one of the many weak HW eras.
