It already happened, whether he should or should not have been in there is another question. He asked how to cope with it, analysing what happened and improving is hardly bad advice now is it.

I also doubt the guy beat him up badly because what bothered him was more the fact that everybody saw it. He got his humble pie and now knows he needs to work on things.

I don't disagree with any of that. But you probably also know that sometimes a less experienced boxer goes all out and needs to be straightened out a little. Not a true beating but simply something to think about so he can't come in wailing away like you're a heavy bag without thinking about defence.

When I started sparring more I wasn't just pampered and looked after, sometimes I was taught "painful" lessons. We're not talking about life threatening beatings here, just a shiner every now and then, some liver shots, etc. It's boxing, we all had to deal with that.

Learn from it. You can spend all day watching good boxers spar against each other but you will learn more if its you in the ring doing the sparring. Look at it this way, if you were put in against someone who was not as good as you then you will never learn what your weaknesses are.

Did say he was copping one clean shots after another.. Anyway I what I never said that you shouldn't get a liver shot here and abit of toughening up I'm all for that, but receiving one clean shot after another in only your second sparring session against someone with 9 years experience is a bit much that's all I'm saying

I disagree. Its boxing, this is how you learn and improve, by seeing where your going wrong. how's he gonna do that if the other guy's taking it easy all the time? You take your lumps and ****ing get on with it. If you don't like it, choose another sport.

Maybe i'm just of the old school of thought, but this is how i learned to box, and yeah, sometimes it ****ing hurts. But it has to. he's learning to fight. if he competes and is matched against a guy with more experience and hits harder he cant ask his corner men or the ref to tell the guy to go a bit easy can he. For those of us here who box or have boxed, we've all been there. As i said in a previous post ive lost count of the black eyes and split lips/swollen noses ive picked up in sparring. but you learn from it. its not a big deal.

Dude don't worry about it, I get schooled all the time and I'v been boxing for like 4 years.

At the end of the day they're just showing you where the holes are in your game..fix them.

My gym houses a few national and international competitors - aside from me occasionally stunning them I get my ass beat like 98% of the time, but I'd rather it was in the gym with them than in a bout.

real good advice a kid is having he's second sparring session in he'd whole life and you think that it's good for a boxer with 9 years experience to destroy him? Hate to train at your gym if that's how you train anyway I've made my point and I stand by it, have fun beating the **** out of kids to 'teach' them[/quote]

Shut up you silly ****, i'm not talking about him getting ''destroyed'' (even he didnt make out it was that ****ing bad) every time he spars, i'm saying its just one of those things and happens to us ALL (as 90% of the replies here have shown) and its not just our gym, every gym ive trained at has been the same, from london to liverpool. And don't be making me out to be a bully neither, saying a knock the kids about when you know **** all about me. Dickhead.

Your right tho, you would hate our gym and i doubt you'd last 2 mins before ****ing crying about getting hit in sparring. and i dare say i'd hate your gym too, ive no time for ***gots mincing about throwing ptty pat shots and congratulating each other on great technique. **** that. get in there and fight for 3 mins, if i get bust up so what? i'll have seen why and can LEARN from it.

Its just something you have to accept happens. You'l learn and it will make you so much better.

Once when i was about 17 i was sparring with a kickboxing instructor a real top quality guy ex world champ and been all over the world. I thought he would be easy on me but he hit me with a shocking body shot right in the pit of my stomach and i threw up, safe to say that session was over there and then.

It gave me a absolute terror of body shots for a very long time afterwards. He explained why it happened and gave me advice. You just have to accept that occasionally someone far better than you will hand out an ass whooping and you simply have to take it.

Now when i spar with tomato cans i whoop their ass then show him his mistakes
