It was an ugly and boring fight. Two soft puncher try to infight for 12 rounds. Dont know why Sturm didnt keep the distance and use his jab. Gevor was more active but hit the guard most of the time. Sturm definately landed the cleaner shots. It really depends on what you value more, activity or clean shots. A draw would be fine for me. I understand why Gevor is dissapointed, but he should realise that he is somehow lucky for not having deducted points for his head-first-style. From round one Gevors head was in Sturms face for 12 rounds. For this matter the referee was a total joke. Warned Gevor hundred times but never took further actions.
I am from Denmark and I scored the fight for Sturm. But it was not an easy fight to score. A lot of close rounds and not that many clean shots. People who wanted Gevor to win is basing their scoring on the volume of punches thrown by Gevor. Sturm landed the cleaner punches and defended himself better than Gevor (people tend to forget, that a boxers abillity to defend himself is also a factor when it comes to scoring a fight). So if we go by the "rule" that the champion gets the close rounds the 115-113 scorecards for Sturm is ok.
I've seen plenty German or Germany-based fighters being booed IN Germany after being awarded a bogus decision. I'm no German, but let's cut the ****. German supporters ARE btw shameless about being hardcore supporters of the most boring fighters imaginable, of which i consider Sturm's popularity a good example. As for the fight, i don't understand all the outrage at all. It was a fight in which neither guy did significant damage, and in that case you go with the guy who landed more imo, and that was Sturm. People bring up Gevor's bodyshots, but Sturm was constantly landing his left to Gevor's body as well. And Gevor was the only one who ever appeared hurt in this fight. The so called knockdown was bogus too imo. THE PUNCH ****ING MISSED! Correctly ruled a slip.
I am about as anti - Sturm as it gets and he clearly won the fight. gevor only showed more aggression, all else, clean effective punching, defense, ring generalship was is Sturm's favor. How was this a robbery? Gevor did the same thin over and over again, very little skill, only occasionally did he land a clean punch, always head in first...Sturm was not really good either, but if the fight had gone two more rounds, he would have KO's Gevor.
No it wasn't, Strum was fighting Gevors fight all night, you would definately give Gevor the marks for ring generalship. He also landed more clean shots than Strum, most of them were to the body rather than the head but they still should have been counted as scoring shots.
it was a robbery i had Gevor ahead 115:113 btw it was a legit knockdown in round 3. This robberies are bad for german boxing even Gevor's trainer Sdunek hasn't the balls to call it was it is = a robbery Gevor is the legit WBA beltholder
I'm really surprised by how many people who are knowledgeable boxing fans got this a shutout in favour of Gevor. This was a close fight that Gevor let slip in the second half where he paid the price for the insane pace n the first half of the fight. Disliking Sturm and Germany is one thing, but saying this was another robbery is simply blown out of proportion.
You're dumb dude. Fo real, its amazing some of the posts i read on here : | But its good anyways so that way i can rule out the worse ones from the decent ones.
Big deal when they were more flashy. (not trying to attack you but just quoting for future) I rather prefer 5 decent landing shots than 1 shot landing and its flashy. In this case Gevor being the 5 and Sturm the 1. Nah, **** that... And plus, rewatch it dude, Gevor was hitting him with some nice uppercuts and snapped Sturms head back once or twice as well. Sturm got a gift. Even a draw would be a disgrace card. Gevor outworked, out landed, out boxed, and pretty much whooped his ass for the most part. No way Sturm won that fight...
