It was absolutely a robbery. I had it 118-110, plus there should have been a knockdown. Even if you give every remotely close round to Sturm, Gevor still won at least 7 rounds. He threw twice as many punches, he forced Sturm into fighting his fight the entire fight, he landed the harder shots, he landed the more effective shots, he never got hurt and he wasn't even less accurate than Sturm. Both fighters had good defense, and I'd esitmate that each fighter only landed 15% - 20% of his punches. Once or twice a round Sturm would pop off a flashy combo that landed cleanly and the crowd would go nuts, but that doesn't negate the fact that Gevor was landing twice as many punches and seriously hurting Sturm on the inside.

Yeah, the commentator was embarrassing. The guy is really Sturm's fan boy and probably the worst commentator in boxing I'm aware of.

I don't see how this was remotely close to being a close fight. It was a blowout. Maybe it helps that I don't understand German.

On what basis did Sturm win a majority of rounds?

Effective aggressiveness - Gevor was clearly the aggressor, and of about equal effectiveness to Sturm
Hard, clean punching - Gevor landed the harder shots in a majority of the rounds
Ring generalship - Gevor completely forced Sturm to fight Gevor's fight
Defense - Both guys blocked most of the punches that came at them

I don't see where Sturm has an edge. I gave rounds 8 and 9 to Sturm. 1, 7 and 12 were also close. Gevor very clearly won every other round.

I missed the first 5 rounds, so i dont know what to say about the decision. The rounds i have seen Sturm was the more accurate boxer blocking most of Ghevors attempts to break through the defence. Ghevor didnt look too effective in his aggessiveness. If the first rounds were like the second half of the fight, i have no problem with the result. But obviously Ghevor was more effective there. When i read the postings at our german board, not too much people complain about this fight beeing a robbery. Some have it for Sturm, some for Ghevor (more for Ghevor actually), but most people admit it could have gone either way.

:deal I give Sturm 3 or 4 rounds. He somehow managed to get away with getting knocked down. I enjoyed the fight the ring generalship was great from Gevor although the ref kept breaking it when Sturm was trapped in the corner

    Well spoken,brickhaus!:good

    I quite agree with you!
Sturm had to dance to Gevor's music and most of thetime got the short end of the stick.Gevor was in his face for 12 long rounds.Sturm couldnt hold him at bay and score point after point with his jab as he usually does.
Admittingly,Sturm now and then connected with some good uppercuts.
Nevertheless,Sturm would not have been the victor on neutral .:nono

They must be vodka drunk :hey

Commentators from that stream gave the fight to Sturm, so did I. Gevor was aggressive but Sturm was to clever for him. Good fight though. Sturm would have beed raped by Abraham or Pavlik.

It was not a robbery Gevor lost the second half clear and never hurt Sturm 115-113 was ok
Gevor was more aggressive but could not keep the work rate, he got hit with clean shots to the head when he was working Sturms body. Gevor looked good only because he was pushing all night with his head it was close but never a robbery. (Cotto vs Clottey was closer then this one) The second fight Sebastian Zbik vs Domenico Spada for the interim WBC middleweight title was a clear robbery all three judges scored 115-114 for the german who run out of gas and was only clinching.

Absolutely disagree, Gevor was ALSO hitting sturm clean, what is it with eveyone and how "clean" Sturm was catching gevor with, I do agree, he was tagging gevor, BUT, gevor was ALSO catching Sturm CLEAN also was going to Sturms body, do body punches not count anymore? Do Knockdowns not count anymore, is infighting illegal? Why was not Ward penalized nor warned for EXCESSIVE holding and hugging, but Gevor was always seperated because he decided to take away Sturms jab? Absolute robbery of the year. Cotto Pavlik was MUCH closer, I had it 114-113 Clottey, this fight was not CLOSE at all, Gevor should have been the winner tonight.
