so canelo not fighting for anything but bragging rights now then ? and ggg stepped aside for nothing cotto has tucked them right up
I thought Canelo still gets the belt if he wins. GGG still gets the chance to fight for the title and may well still get paid his money.
no, it's even weirder. if Canelo wins he will become the WBC and lineal MW champion, but he has to comply with fighting Golovkin within 15 days otherwise he loses the WBC belt to GGG. if the fight ends a draw or Cotto wins, Golovkin will immidiately get elevated to full champion status, and Cotto remains the lineal for all that's worth.
Which scenario is preferable to Golovkin fans? Cotto winning, or Canelo winning then dropping? Or need I even ask?
my 4 favorite scenarios. 1) Canelo winning brutally and accepting the Golovkin fight. 2) Canelo winning in any way and accepting the Golovkin fight. 3) Canelo winning brutally and dropping the belt. 4) Canelo winning in any way and dropping the belt. Cotto winning is not preferred by me in any way, because he's never ever going to fight GGG
GGG doing a WWE like run in after their match is over and KOing both of them pick up the belt and haul ass.
I'd prefer him to KO Canelo quickly and painlessly and then start smashing Cotto over the head with a steel chair repeatedly and then spike DDT him off the chair.:hey Maybe chokeslam him through announcers table to put a cherry on top. Throw in a few thumb tacks too.:yep
I'm finding this a lil weird. I mean I understand the rationale, but really, if Cotto ain't the WBC champ how can Canelo be fighting him for the strap. If Miguel had been stripped 6 months ago or even 2 months ago, the championship wouldnt have been on the line - the lineal, yes - but the WBC title should surely only be passed if the challenger beats a current Champ, which Cotto aint any more. Just timing and $s I guess.
believe me, if it hadn't been Canelo or another Mexican the challenger had been shafted too, and GGG had been champ right now.
Its probably like when a fighter loses it on the scales and its only available to one participant, the match has already been set and sanctioned for the belt and just because Cotto decided not to pay the sanctioning fees that shouldn't deprive Canelo of the chance of going home with the strap he signed a contract to fight for.
They will create a new emerald belt so that Canelo can continue his fame at 155 as a "real" champion at 154 (Like his promoter say) and real linear champion at 160 (Like they are marketing this fight). Sport and honour are loosing this 6-0.
