Golovkin was days away from a match, Kovalev was out of shape and just beginning sparring for his next fight. Translation Golovkin was in prime fighting shape and ready to rumble, Kovalev wasn't. End of ****ing story.
Here's John David Jackson telling an interviewer Kovalev's POV on the session. "Me and Sergey talked about that. Abel [Sanchez]s blown that out of proportion. Yes they sparred. Sergey said, John, the reason I dont want to spar the kid is because Ive got to hurt him. He said Triple Gs a tough guy, Ive got to hit him with everything Ive got to keep him off me and thats going to hurt him. Were friends. He says then Abel tries to make it a war and thats not what were in there for. Thats why I refuse to spar with the kid. Why should I have a war with him when Im not going to make any money from it? He said Abel starts all this stuff but said, The kids rough. I admit that. I had to hit him with everything I have to get him off. Thats all that was. Theyre friends" So it appears Kovalev pulled his punches against GGG.:deal
In fairness Ola Afolabi who is a cruiserweight and has sparred with Golovkin said he punches like a heavyweight. (Video on YouTube) So the idea of Golovkin sparring with a LHW and dishing a beating is not so far out the question.
What the **** are you loling at you troglodyte? You're so frantic and obsessed with GGG you probably thought I was defending him.
Yup, when it comes to fantasy and training fights, GGG kills anyone. Real fights though, he's nowhere even close to those big matchups.
Has nothing to do with the fact this is something GGG trainer and former Kovalev trainer said, so he will hype GGG and disrespect Kovalev since he left him...
Might be but I don't think it's unheard of for a smaller guy to beat up a bigger guy in a sparring session. It's only sparring.
