For the record, I'm not entirely against catch-weights in certain situations. This however isn't one of those situations. Canelo was the lineal 160 champ, for one. But the larger point is that GGG isn't a whole lot bigger than he is. Past champs like Pavlik, Hopkins, and Taylor were - (not that I would have supported a catchweight fight with either of them but it would have been slightly more warranted.) Martinez could have faced GGG instead of Murray All the more reason to fight GGG, no? Fight would have been on PPV, and his lucrative Roc nation contract dictates that any bout he's in will be for many, many "peanuts". That said, I don't berate Cotto for picking Canelo over GGG. I do find it a little suspicious that he's now apparently moving down in weight to pursue a JMM fight. That makes me think twice about his previous so-called interest in fighting GGG.
Even if you completely discount Canelo (as that fight should still happen, and will IMO) the list is, at least: Sturm, Quillin, Martinez, and to a lesser extent, Cotto (he at least dropped the title leading in to the Alvarez fight). Saunders is still avoiding him, but may warm up. That's just the past or current middleweight beltholders. That's pretty bad.
I think that's wrong, but in same breath.GGG should accept that.win the Canelo match, and s****om is open for GGG. I honestly think GGG knows Canelo is no pushover, and not guaranteed victory. If GGG would be half as good everybody claims.he destroy Canelo in 6rounds and instantly becomes superstar. GGG is managed badly here, getting older everyday.now it's the time to take risks,if want to archieve greatness.GGG can't wait.i don't think he can pull Hopkins. In 3-4yrs all is over, time is clicking.badly
There is a massive difference between saying something when the cameras are rolling and engaging in serious negotiations with a fighters promoters and manager. Take Eubank, for example. Calls GGG out when either GGG or he himself has a fight signed. Also, getting beat by a world class fighter in Saunders then dropping down to Euro level to fight Chudinov and O'Sullivan and then dropping down to British level to fight Blackwell and now Doran is not the way to go to get a fight against the guy seen as the best in your division. As for Canelo, there really is no defending him.
ggg inability to make fights that aren't bums is the problem here. Nobody can have a logical expectation that he'd fight somebody with a pulse. He really needs to prove he can do it first.
Casual fan logic ^^^ Cotto had a much easier time with Geale in 4 rounds than GGG in 3 rounds. You should watch the fights before you comment on them. :deal
Ward maybe, but the other stories are from just within the past month or 2. In other words, useless. So let me get this straight. It's ok for Golovkin to move down to Canyouweighlows catchweight?
All you did was give examples of fighters saying within the past 2 months that they want to fight Golovkin. I'm still waiting for the proof that he's ducked thematsch
