Last night I saw a future Hall of Fame middleweight named Gennady
Golotvin destroy a good, brave Daniel Geale with a crushing right hand.
Watching middleweights all my life, GGG might be the new incarnation
of the young 160 pound Bob Fitzsimmons, in his ability to place concussion
like punches on his opponent. And remember in over 300 amateur bouts and 28 pro bouts GGG has never been floored...What say you ESB ?

I remember watching Berto KO guys and thinking...this guy reminds me of Duran...

Lets give it some time. Jermaine Taylor beat Hopkins twice. He to me is the bench mark of potiential. Let me see him take of Ward like that and then we can talk.

    Ouch

I used to enjoy Berto as well.
I think GGG has the talent to be a future HOF.

I was sold on Golovkin wen I was watching him on YouTube 4 yrs ago.

  5. If he defeats the best in the division; yes.
Don't listen to the morons who say that he has to go up in weight to be considered an ATG.
He can do like Bernard Hopkins; stay at middleweight, unify the significant titles [which right now would mean defeating Cotto & Peter Quilins] & stay at middleweight defending the titles a few times against the top contenders.
BHops was considered a great middleweight after defending the undisputed middleweight title only twice [he defended the other individual titles allot more though].

In hindsight. Hop was not well known until he dismantled Trinidad. Title defenses only mean something in hindsight. Cuevas defended the welterweight title 11 times. That got him into the hall because other wise, all he is remember for is getting hammered by Duran and Hearns.

He deserves to be on the general forum at the moment.

Time will tell whether he deserves to enter this forum let alone the hall of fame...

He has been very impressive. The talent is there. He needs to unify. Fight Cotto or the Cotto/Canelo winner. While that happens take on Sam Soliman grab his IBF belt. After last nights performance he will become a huge star and hopefully it becomes easier for him to make fights with proper risk reward to other fighters. Plenty of guys don't want no part of him including James Kirkland.

I remember a few years ago like back in 2007- folks were.saying the same thing about Kelly Pavlik, then it was Jeff Lacy, then Berto, etc...

If this kid beats Cotto and beats him decisively, then lets chat, until then it's too soon to tell..

The red flag is this kid does get hit a lot, Geale hit him flush quite a few times, and if Geale had any real power, GGG, would have had some serious problems....

He has loads of potential. I'm pretty impressed so far, and I think he's the best middleweight currently active. He'd beat lineal champ Cotto if he ever got the chance. Sadly, guys aren't lining up to fight him.

I'd like to see him stay at 160 a little while longer and try to get the match against Cotto made. If not, a couple more defences before entering the tougher 168 division.
Right now, Ward beats him. But Ward is one of the best fighters on the planet, so it's not great shame.

What impresses me is that he seems down-to-earth and doesn't let all the hoopla and hype get to him. He has a great temperament.

So yes, I'm impressed. It's a pity he is already 32 though...

Not impressed, or you don't think he belongs with the best of all time at 160? (I agree at the moment with the last part, since this is a ridiculously deep division.)
