Exactly. Not only is he taller. He just has the bigger frame. Its noticeable looking at his core and back. He's just bigger.
Very insightful, clearly there's a difference to just being ripped and being strong,Golovkin whilst looking ripped is clearly strong. Actually there's a pic somewhere of Canelo and GGG side by side not sure if it's been imposed or if it's from that sparring session they had but side to side they looked very alike, both looked strong and chunky and muscle wise you couldn't separate em,if only. Canelo would admit that to himself as I think he could genuinely go twelve rounds with him?
Just seen a few pic on Twitter. Looks worse than I anticipated although I expect GGG to cut more and Kell to stay roughly the same
I have seen the pic and its true they are very similar in build, Canelo is marginally thicker but GGG is 2 inches+ taller so clearly the bigger man. Kell Brook is a small middleweight no 2 ways about it and GGG is very big @ the weight.
GGG is obviously the bigger guy but its not a complete mismatch physically. Floyd looked pretty small to canelo and look how that turned out. Sure canelo isnt the power puncher that GGG is but Canelo can knock a WW out cold as we all saw recently. If Brook has skills he can win the fight.
Golovkin is a medium framed MW at best. An example of "very big" for MW would have been guys like Hopkins, RJJ and James Toney. Gerald McClellan was also huge for a MW. Even guys like Kelly Pavlik, Jeramine Taylor and Arthur Abraham had bigger MW frames than Golovkin. Current MW's like Quillen, Jacobs and Eunuch jr are also bigger as was Murray and Rubio. Possibly even Stevens, Monroe Jr, Lemieux, Adama and Ishida. Golovkin has only had the bigger frame over 4-5 guys in his MW title run including Brook.
Well because he is. He's a Welterweight who is moving to 160 pounds. He's not cutting. He's putting on mass. Which usually means disaster because he's going to realize that holy **** this guy hits like a damn train, ain't no 147 pounder hitting like this.
The photo is deliberately taken in that fashion - despite even the way the photo has been taken, GGG looks like a significantly bigger guy. Bigger head, neck, back, chest - just bigger. That said, it's obviously not the world's biggest MW fighting the world's smallest WW - both these guys could probably compete at 154.
