I personally don't think that at all. If a current fighter, that has the skill set of GGG for example is battle-tested and I have reason to believe then by all means measure against past greats. Hagler though is Test and proven. GGG is not. One fighter people are overlooking who is only 7 or 8 fights into his career Vasyl Lomachenko, is taking on all comers. Orlando Salido in his 2nd pro fight... Who does that. I wish people would hype him. I'll jump on that bandwagon. He is MORE skilled than GGG, and is already challenging the best in his division.

I'm a big Golovkin fan, but there's no MW in history, imho, who could "brutalize Hagler".

I think GGG might be Hagler's toughest fight, and I'd give Gennady a chance of winning, but, Jeebus Crust, maybe folks should go back and see what Hagler could do before posting stuff like this.

he's a better middleweight than anyone i've seen in a while. h2h i rank him #2 or #3 behind hagler and monzon. i think he'd give b-hop brain damage

    I'm surprised there's not a thread named...

    "GGG is GOD!!"

the GGG worship is getting sickening...

let's see him clean out all the other title holders first but take out the winner of Cotto vs Alvarez in his next fights....

GGG obsession is approaching "porn category" status.

Quite simply: Golovkin couldn't outbox Hagler and so, if he stood any chance of victory, he'd have to make it a war. Unfortunately for Golovkin, Hagler also loved a war (I mean, he really lapped them up) and was very good at winning them.

Golovkin definitely COULD outbox Hagler, outwork and outsmart him.

Those all good times. Sun was brighter, water was tastier, music was better and boxers were greater, and it repeats with every generation. The best boxers were in ancient Greece then.

...and Boxing fans were made up of people who are today far more knowledgeable and smarter.

You regularly play your part in proving that.

This is the type of trash that turns people off to GGG. Destroys Hagler based on beating a bunch of no hopers C class fighters and ducking Ward.

I couldn't agree more it's the reason why you don't see anyone calling for Loma to step up and fight someone and you never see anyone bashing him. Loma is the truth and is willing to fight the best on top of that he's much younger than GGG he should be the guy everyone is talking about.

If GGG answers more questions I'll consider him a possible winner.

The GGG as of his last fight is not on Prime Hagler level imo, and I heart GGG.

Hagler would break him down late and probably force a referee stoppage.

You mean Antuofermo had what looked like a good round 5; landed a few clean shots in rounds 8 and 9; increased the frequency of his head-first lunges, between rounds 10 to 15, (of which he still lost rounds 11, 12, 14 and 15) and two of the Judges had scored a different fight that night.

Hagler was never hurt and Antuofermo was known for coming on strong in the second half of fights. This doesn't change the fact that Hagler Boxed Vito's head off for the majority of their first bout. The draw is generally considered a robbery.
