If GGG had of been around when Hagler was fighting they would have never of fought, because the communists rulers would not let the great amateur fighters from the former soviet union turn pro. Hagler, Hearns, Leonard and all the others of the 20th century never had to fight all the great amateurs from the former soviet union in the pro ranks.
Excellent point. All of our boxing hereos of the past never fought the great fighters from around the planet like todays boxers do to become champion. That makes the Klitchko's reign even more impressive. They are the first true rulers of the entire boxing planet. Like it or not the Americans will never dominate like they used to because of this. The fighters of Eastern Europe are hungrier and it shows in today's results. This is only the first wave and they already pretty much own a good chunk of the boxing map even though they only have a tiny pct of boxers comparetivly to American fighters . Wait until you see the second wave. GGG GOAT at 160
Seeing that a shopworn smaller Kassim Ouma was giving Golovkin serious issues. I don't know that Golovkin beats a younger fresher Ouma. There is no way in hell he would beat Marvin Hagler. That **** is laughable. Hagler would be all up in his **** with power.
Good one Man Machine. Greb fought almost 300 fights. His professional record was 105-8-2 with a 47-0-2 streak in there. Hagler was 62-3-2 with a streak of 36-0-1 and a streak of 25-0-1 that is amazing. Robinson was 173-19-6 with a mind blowing 87-0-2 streak and a 40-0 streak incredible. Monzon was 87-3-9 with a 66-0-4 streak. Middleweight great division. Hopkins 55-7-2 champ from 1994-2005 with 20 defenses. GGG 34-0. GGG Hagler Robinson Monzon BHOP
Monzon had such names on his ledger as Briscoe (x2); Benvenuti (x2); Griffith (x2); Napoles; Valdez (x2) Incidentally, Monzon had a streak of 71-0-9 and effectively went unbeaten from 1964 until he retired he in 1977. Hagler's résumé includes Briscoe; Antuofermo; Minter; Duran; Hearns; Mugabi; Leonard Other than the controversial decision against him, versus Leonard in his very last fight, Hagler defeated every man he ever faced. Robinson faced and beat LaMotta 5 times out of their hexology; took losses and beat Fullmer, Basillo and Turpin, respectively; fought Olson (x4), Graziano, Pender, Downes and Giardello. It's worth noting that in his first defeat (and one and only defeat to LaMotta), LaMotta outweighed Robinson by over a stone. Greb has his own ATG listing and HOF residing on his ledger, in the form of Battling Levinsky; Billy Miske; Mike Gibbons; Tommy Gibbons; Kid Norfolk; Tommy Loughran; Mike O'dowd, Mickey Walker, Tiger Flowers. There were many other respectable challenges he faced, such as Eddie McGoorty; George Chip; Al McCoy, Frank Mantell and Johnny Wilson. I might well have missed some others. Greb would also hand Gene Tunney his only official career loss - at Light Heavyweight. Golovkin - David Lemieux; Daniel Geale; Kassim Ouma (and I am being generous). 1. Greb 2. Robinson 3. Hagler/Monzon #. Golovkin... ...TBC
no. hagler was the most accurate punching middleweight ever (before he threw the fight vs leonard, that is.. all of the sudden missing punches by 12 inches when he was standing 8 inches in front of ray, who was not even moving his head). push comes to shove, ambidextrious hagler gets there first. yes, golovkin would totally ko leonard at middleweight (it's a joke to think otherwise), but not hagler. hagler is unknockoutable.
