Those great Soviet Union fighters back then would've been greater than Leonard, Hagler and Hearns, but they never got their chance to prove themselves.

 

He also hasn't fought anything above gate keeper level in the pros. To think some of you guys were hyping up Geale a few months ago to be one of his toughest test to date says it all. He's the Sven Ottke of this generation, what's even funnier is Ottke's win over Mundine is probably better than any win on GGG's resume and guess what? Ottke knocked him out too.

I don't care if it's a troll thread, or if you even think GGG wins due to his size advantage (different weigh in rules).

I just don't like revisionist history, and I can't stand this "Hagler was a pressure fighter" myth. He could apply pressure when he wanted, but he was first and foremost a
methodical boxer who used the ring, lateral movement, and broke down his opponents.

I don't care who a person picks to win, just so long as they don't feel into this myth of Hagler's style as some face-first, aggressive brawler.

What on earth has GGG done to even merit such CONSIDERATION? GGG has struggled with fighters inferior to Hagler, Kassim Ouma is one. I would like to see GGG vs opponents who are remotely gifted as Julian Jackson, Mike Mccallum or John Mugabi..... hell even Thomas Hearns. When GGG fights anyone of that caliber and dispatches them in dominant fashion, then we can have this discussion. With that said, ripping the likes lemiuex doesn't even get you close.

In any case, as great as Hagler was, if he and GGG fought in their respective primes, I'd say that GGG's style would give the Marvelous one all he could handle. Hagler's "Never back up" style would result in hugely-entertaining pyrotechnics, and it would only be a question of which of the two got KOd first. I wouldn't want to bet on which one it would be.
