The analysis explains exactly why GGG wouldn't land flush.

Ward will get tagged by Golovkin at some point. Do you think an accurate puncher like Golovkin is going to throw hundreds of punches and land zero? Perhaps Wards chin is better than advertised, I don't think so. Again Boone had hit out on his feet (I was at the Rose Garden for that fight) and Kost had him on noodle legs. Ward's chin is suspect.

I'm not even saying Golovin would beat Ward, I think Ward wins the fight because he knows how to fight dirty and neutralize his opponent. I don't think Golovkin will be any different. However, GGG has the power to KO Ward with one shot (and set it up, something punchers like Kessler or Miranda couldn't/can't do). But when we talk about a puncher's chance, it never really pans out. So while I agree with the OP's "GGG can beat SOG", I don't think he would. Ward by decision.

First off I don't think Golovkin will be allowed to throw as many punches as he would like. No matter how tough a guy is, if he keeps getting tagged trying to throw a specific punch, he's not going to want to just keep throwing it. Even if he does land flush, he doesn't have that "touch of death" power others have had. He packs a punch, but I think Ward can take a few and stand. Or at the very least get back up.

I think we're in agreement though, GGG "can" beat him. Nothing's impossible.

Golovkin is shaping as one of the most exciting middleweights we've seen since Hagler. But I don't see him beating a dominant, bigger body like SOG.

Saying GGG can beat Ward because he murdered Ishida is like saying the following:

"My BMW M5 can beat a Bugatti because it ****ing murdered a G35."

And not reading the first post and claiming something you image it contains is like not looking when someone is raping your sister and claiming "it's never happened."

I believe Golovkin has a good chance to beat Andre Ward in a catchweight bout (164).

I know it sounds crazy right now, but Ward has only a size advantage. GGG can outbox him on the neutral territory, and still will have a chance to finish him off because of his punching skills.

This fight is not gonna happen soon. Golovkin feel comfortable at 160 and is not gonna move up to 168 (inside info). Also Andre Ward wouldn't come down to 164 in weight to fight GGG.
