Yes I've just made made the same point on another thread,they paid step aside money with promises of fighting after Cotto and the Khan which made the WBC think it was on,then after the WBC gave em time to negotiate they dropped the belt,OK Oscar had his reasons but from then on they should of kept quiet but no after Kellerman pressed em like they knew he would they made Canelo look bad and in truth I give Canelo the benefit of the doubt in that he does want to fight at 160 instead of dying to make weight for Oscar.
This fight will be the biggest pay per view since Canelo v Cotto and I expect it will do well over 1.5 million or else why would Oscar offer 10 million?

 

Of course he deserves more than 10 million.

Cotto-Canelo did $58m from 900,000 buys.

This fight could realistically hit $60-70m.

Canelo can't make huge money with anyone else. Yes, Canelo does need to fight GG. His JMW days look to be over and he can't fight at SMW. Once he's officially at MW, what's he going to do? Unless either guy loses, once BJS and Jacobs have been taken out of the equation there'll be no other relevant fights. He could maybe have a CW against Brook or fight Eubank, but at some point he'll have to fight GG. GG already has 3 of the main belts and he's already under huge pressure to fight him, and that will only increase. Canelo doesn't have a lot of options.

 

Canelo was guranteed $5 million against Miguel Cotto. Canelo is a bigger start than Ggg, yet 10 millon + PPV isn't enough for Golovkin?

But by your logic (or lack of) Canelo is ducking because he sent Ggg a $10 million offer with PPV upside. Goon.

 

Canelo doesn't do huge numbers without a big named opponent. Yes, he deserves more, yes, he's more popular. But check out his purses and his numbers from fights against Lara, Trout, Kirkland and Smith etc. The Smith fight bombed at 250,000. A 75% split is not fair.

This is a different fight under different circumstances.

No, $10m isn't fair from a fight that could realistically do $70-80m, if not more.

There isn't a fight out there apart from a Floyd rematch, that can give Canelo the money that a GG fight would.

Both guys need each other.

 

Canelo has a good 5-7 more years of high level fighting and big prizes. He doesn't need Ggg as Canelo's resume already is superior to anything Ggg has accomplished.

If Ggg thinks he's worth more than 10 million dollars, then in the words of the Great Oscar De La Hoya: "GOOD LUCK".

 

Canelo does numbers, GG doesn't. 75% is fair to me too.

if golovkin were as popular as you people make him out to be he wouldnt have a problem getting fights....hes not as big as you guys want to think he is....

 

If GBP's $10M offer to K2 can be believed, then $10M is approx. 50% more than Golovkin earned for facing a light hitting welterweight, and about 80% more than he is actually worth. So, there is absolutely zero doubt that GBP's offer was more than fair and that K2 is just being their usual fight blocking, money grubbing greedy selves.

If Golovkin had nuts even the size of a centipede, he'd take the fight, win against the cash cow and displace him as the sport's current highest earner.

However, when I think about it, even if Golovkin manages to defeat Canelo, I still don't believe he has the legacy, skill or balls, to displace Canelo, even if he manages to win.
Tough spot for K2. They can't win for losing.

 

this is a sad reality bumdog fans are trying hard to deny.....the money is more than fair.......these guys think ggg is prime oscar, floyd or pac...the guy has sold 97k ppvs and cant get a fight made to save his life....popular fighters that bring money and fans to the table dont have a hard time making big fights....thats just a reality of it...no matter how feared they are.....
