Canelo's last PPV tanked and I believe this one will too. It's a shame because it could actually do really well at the box office but there are a few reasons why 1. Hearn is not spending any money marketing the fight. I have barely seen any commercials or ads for it. In the 2000's when PPV did really well you would constantly see commercials about them but it looks like Hearn is trying to save money 2. GGG is only speaking Russian in interviews. This is BS. He knows English and has always historically done interviews in English and now he is chickening out like a PUNK??! This will tank. It's a shame because if sales were high it would HELP the sport.
If it tanks it'll be very sad that the Mayweathers and Jake Pauls of the world are capturing so much media and a GREAT fight like this gets no attention
This will do more than the Bivol PPV but less than the Plant PPV (which was 800k) I predict around 600-700k buys
It will still do well because Canelo has a loyal fanbase though it seems the promoters have put very little effort into this.
Cost if living crisis and I doubt casual interest is super high, not to mention streaming I think it does well if it reaches 500k
For the $85 cost of this fight I can buy a bottle of a very nice single malt scotch so no, I won't be paying for this fight.
