GGG has been getting his face rocked in 4 of his last 5 fights. A lot of you consider that to be his warrior machismo. Ward gets tagged a little, and I mean a LITTLE(LOOK AT THE STATS),and you guys act like Smith was connecting hay makers or something. Ward would punish GGG for as long as his chin could take it. K2 knows that Gennady is a limited fighter and really don't want him to be exposed for the fraud that they built him up to be without cashing in on their investment. Ward would just make him another notch on the belt of Europeans he's destroyed.
Golovkin describing Willie Monroe's punches, "His power was like "ting-ting". It was a tap." Also, rocked is a very strong word. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen Golovkin's leg buckle let alone be rocked.
OP is so clueless, its pretty entertaining though. Ward got smacked by a guy with rolls harder than GGG has been hit in his last 20 fights. Ward has one elite win, thats over Froch. Styles not fighters make fights, and Ward is stylistically a difficult match for Froch. Ward is good, but lets not overhype him based on beating up a 160lb guy who ballooned up to 176 due to just being out of shape and viewed this as his retirement payday.
atsch Ward fought a dude who clearly didn't even cut weight, and dominated after 19 months of lay off and looked sensational in doing it. GGG cannot compete against Ward, in no way. He will be backed up by Ward all night, and dominated in a horrible way.
Everyone else in front of him for years, except that decision loss to Kessler. Wards win over Kessler was good, but not really an elite win due to several factors including how insanely ugly and poorly officiated the fight was. Ward got the W vs Kessler, but it didnt really raise his stock a lot with me.
I've been asking for a long time for sometime to break down a GGG-Ward fight in a realistic way, and justify these types of statements. To this day, best response is... "Uhh.. just because". The only way Ward backs up GGG is with an arm-bar wrestling hold. GGG is all wrong for Ward, Froch is a much harder matchup for Golovkin.
Right after Ward beats Golovkin, he will go right under the long list of non-elite opponents Ward has beaten. Funny how you left out Arthur Abraham. He's holding a belt at 168.
Paul Smith turned up for a pay day and his training camp seems to have spent mostly down the local pub...Hardly a sensational opponent, at all. But thats what you get when all you offer your opponent is peanuts. All this talk of Ward fighting GGG is B.S. GGG should only take the fight if its at a catchweight of 164, which less face it, Ward would have to kill himself to make.
When Ward beat him, he was in the middle of a several fight losing streak. I mean he had already lost what, his previous 2 fights if I recall correctly. Plus it was a pretty average fight. Even that AA won some rounds. I know people like to justify Ward easily beating GGG using mostly Froch and AA, but the styles are totally different. Even forgetting his jab and foot movement, the fact that Golovkin has point-blank power in his hooks and uppercuts -with either hand - makes him a hard fight. Ward likes to work close and smother opponents, particularly "punchers". Ward might win the fight, because he is very good - but his favorite moves are a lot riskier just due to style and attributes against GGG than they were against the previous "punchers" he fought. If Ward feels the body shots, and takes range I think Golovkin controls the fight and wins a UD. Golovkin too good at landing that free shot against movers. I think its an interesting fight, I hope it gets made if Golovkin cant land a DL unification fight next.
