These 30 day weigh in results just prove different fighters have different methods of making weight, Brook is clearly the smallest guy and looked absolutely terrible at 176 but he has the highest listed weight.

Martin Murray is perhaps the largest or equal to GGG and he weighs 169 or the least apart from GGG, he was obviously cutting for the 30 day weigh in too!!!!

Fight night weights are trash and I don't take any notice of them they are unofficial and mean nothing, these guys don't even get weighed fight night

Go back to trolling with Brook james. Maybe you'll have a better luck with that.

What does that mean, some people claim Canelo is 180lbs fight night?
How is he 180lbs fight night but 163.8 30 days out?

We all agree Canelo is more than 163.8, he is clearly cutting weight for 30 day weigh ins too

This is not unusual, and even you can agree GGG is cutting weight for these weigh ins? or do you honestly think he walks around at 165?

How Lemieux weighs 175lbs I will never know, he is stocky but short and looked very small next to GGG
Lemieux should be cutting weight for 154lbs, he needs more dedication like Canelo who has a similar build but less bf

I don't think Canelo is cutting weight for 30 day weigh ins, I think that's how his training methods and dedication allows him to come close to fighting shape on a month notice.

Just for the record, I don't think GGG's 30 day weigh in means that he's tiny. But It definetly means that he has no problems making 160 whatsoever and that all your "weight bully" argument to justify his dominance over his peers is pure BS.

    Good post.

Fighters don't all cut weight the same. It's obvious some like to stay as close to their target weight as possible in the lead-in.

I didn't say it justifies his dominance, if you can make weight than do it.

P4P is a different story though, it surely takes some points off. GGG beating Brook and Canelo will not mean that much considering the size difference.

I do think he is better suited to 168lbs but I do know some fighters perform better when they punish themselves to make weight. It hardens them and makes them mentally stronger. CEJ said he feels like killing somebody when he has to make 160

He's just not better suited to 168, there's just less than zero validity to it. You're still taking a passive agressive jab at him without one iota proof to back up your agrument. And there isn't a big size difference between MWs and jr. MWs, a win for the #1 MW over the former #1 jr MW always means something.

And IMO CEJ only said that to justify his reluctance to take fights with other top MWs. As soon as an opportunity for a big money fight arouses, we'll watch him become a natural MW again.

Let's see if he feels like killing somebody at 160 above British level....

The man you worship is a very exciting boxer but he's not fought besides BJS a fighter above British/Euro level.

    This thread has become ******ed.

Let's try and spell it out as simply as possible for those who need it. No fighter is going to weigh, at a 30 day weigh in, what they actually walk around at. By that time, they are typically two thirds of the way through a 3 month training camp. By training for two months, of course you are going to lose weight. That is not "cutting" weight, that is gradual reduction as part of your training program.

But there are some fighters who are inside the 30 day limit but still some way from the actual championship limit, like Jacobs and Lemieux. There are others such as GGG, who are virtually at the weight already. The former will probably need to cut weight (which means hard weight loss training and hitting the sauna the week before the fight and putting all the water weight back on immediately afterwards). The latter will probably gradually continue to reduce their weight as part of their training programme and cut maybe a couple of pounds in the sauna of need be.

Golovkin has so little difficulty making weight that he actually weighed half a pound more for the 7 day weigh in vs Lemieux than he did for the 30 day one, which tells you that taking off the last few pounds is no concern to him whatsoever. I would guess he probably walks around at c175 and takes it off gradually during the course of a camp. Guys like Jacobs, Lemieux and Quillin are much naturally bigger and have to work much harder to make middleweight. As for Canelo, I have said all along that the two are similarly sized, Canelo just (until recently) cuts weight hard to fight at a lower division whilst Golovkin fights at a comfortable weight.
