I think Chavez Jr/Canelo will happen in May and Canelo will fight someone else in September. I don't see this fight happening next year, GBP are set on a flat fee and GGG's corner wants 40%.
I actually think Canelo/Chavez Jr doesn't happen but Canelo - GGG does. I'm sure K2 will take way less than 40%, maybe even the $15 million if the other terms are good, also Canelo's team ought to consider offering a 25/75 or 30/70 split.
GGG's team probably thinks that the Jacobs PPV will do well and give them more bargaining power. GBP apparently do too. Also, it doesn't make sense negotiating terms for a fight he can't have until September when he's still got to fight a guy in March. If GGG makes in the area of 10 million for fighting Jacobs then he can get anyone he wants and doesn't need Canelo anymore. They'll be equals at the bargaining table.
Canelo/Chavez Jr doesn't make sense but the reward will be high that's why it would be a good business move. I was thinking 30% - 35% GGG and 60% - 65% Canelo.
I have faith it'll happen. I get the impression that Loeffler isn't even thinking about GBP's offer, and won't until after the Jacobs fight.
What sucks is that you can see that Canelo wants GGG.... 15M is a joke for a fight that big and De La Hoya could destroy his own legacy if he doesn't make his fight
How many ppv buys are you expecting from this fight? It's unlikely to do a million. If it did, that's 70m revenue (ignoring the gate), divided by half is 35m with ggg getting 15 million of that. That's around 60/40. More than fair. I say it does less than million so the percentages get better from there. So ggg turned this down when he could capitalize on momentum. He's a diva.
I agree that would be fairer, but to be honest K2 will have to compromise to make the fight. And I think they will, because (assuming BJS won't get in the ring with GGG) the alternative is to go up to 168 for less money and an equally (if not more so) dangerous opponent.
You guys need to consider that 3G has a fight signed. That is there priority. In the last two weeks, we've gotten BS from GBP on a fight w/ McGregor (UGH...) and now Chavez jr at 165. GBP is just doing their job as a promoter, tossing names about and such. Hell, look at it this way, why would GBP and canelo try to finalize a fight for next September, when they don't even have a May opponent?
This isn't a law and order episode. There's no law that says you can't sign a fight before an upcoming one has taken place. There has been times in the past that has happened. What are you worried Jacobs would blow up ggg's deal? lol
No sh*t sherlock, this isn't law and order and there isn't a law that says you can't sign for multiple fights. But some promoters don't care to play that way. And there is nothing wrong with waiting until 3G's March fight is done. That's actually what most do. What am I worried about? I'm worried about getting my darn christmas shopping done soon. You think this sh*t is anything to worry about?
