Abel Sanchez: "We are ready to fight Andre Ward but only if he will understand that Gennady is bigger star and bigger draw”

Sanchez does run his mouth, but mainly cos his guy won't. Nonetheless GGGs figures are in the same ballpark as Wards.

These figures do indicate that Golovkin is a ways from being a PPV level guy yet - the Macklin and Stevens fights did well, but both guys were known to the US audience so a drop is for Geale is far from surprising.

What it does mean is that we can expect the next HBO opponent to be chosen on popularity before quality. Also that we ain't gonna see GGG in a marquee fight unless his opponent can carry it.

Pity. Leaves very few options open. With Froch likely facing Jr late this year or early next, Ward tied up with Goosen and likely overbudget and Cotto looking elsewhere it dosn't look promising.

If DLH was actually serious about Quillin that would likely be the most valuable fight out there for Golovkin, but that kinda depends on Haymon... and his mando with Korobov. Otherwise? The hell, even Mora would do better figures than Soliman. Brian Vera perhaps?

If they can get Soliman for the fall, I still think that's the route they go. Even at approximately 1 million views, GGG is delivering value at his current purses.

The early 2015 fight would be my estimate for when another action guy like Vera or Kirkland gets targeted. Kessler's a dark horse candidate.

Quillin is the X-factor; I don't know how legit Oscar is and how much is simply posturing, but I'd prefer that fight take precedent if he's serious about making it happen.

For all real purposes, as far as the average US fan is concerned GGG had not stepped into the ring in 8 months. One he is back on regular activity schedule I think the ratings will recover, most especially if he gets a known dude.

Mora might have just gotten his meal ticket.

I still think its a pity that Vera lost to Chavez in their second fight, otherwise he would have made a great GGG opponent.

Yeah pretty much. Quillins stock and negotiating position if Oscar is serious about fight just skyrocketed.

Disappointing, yes. I think he lost a lot of momentum not being on HBO since last November. Maybe HBO will be more serious about keeping him active on HBO and more serious about putting up the money to get bigger opponents.

It will be interesting to see how good the ratings are for this weeks fights on HBO.
