Hagler fought at 160 for years, so did Monzon, etc.

Stevenson called out Ward on national TV, he said he wants to fight Ward, that he will fight Ward at 175 or even at 168, Ward does not talk about Stevenson........................Ward could fight Kovalev as well, Kovalev wants to fight Ward. However, Ward will never fight outside his hometown with his personal referee, judges, boxing commission, etc.............I would not suggest that anyone go to Ward's home town and get cheated.................

no major fights of Ward should ever take place in CA. Anyone who falls into trap is a desperate fool. GGG is not, and does not need Ward as he is ALREADY a bigger name in the US than Ward.

When Hagler and Monzon fought you did not have all the alphabet belt BS -esp. in Monzons time. There were more middleweights around.

Fair enough. I just can't stand the guy and I root for Ginger George to humble him next week.

Im GGG fan. I think that Ward is slightly better p4p and natural SMW. I wouldn't mind seeing the fight but I fully expect to see GGG lose it. I'm actually a Ward fan too and I realize he won't take full credit for beating GGG. Beating Adonis or Kovalev at LHW will improve his legacy significantly as they are very good fighters fighting at a higher division.

Very good post imao. Still I think they are both a bit small for their divisions and I think they will have hard time moving up. If they have successful careers at SMW and LHW respectively I think their legacies will be enhanced greatly.

You couldn't be more wrong I want to see Ward fight GGG because I know that Ward will tool him. People like you don't know **** about the sport and always overrate power. When a guy like GGG gets in the ring with a elite technican like Ward he will be taken apart made to look amatuerish and given a boxing lesson. All that so called power means nothing when you can't land because you're in with a boxing master who will neutralize it and that's what will happen if GGG steps up to fight Ward, you know it people in this thread know it, HBO knows it and GGG and his team know it.:deal

There are still fights for GGG at MW (which is a deeper division than SMW at the minute, which has little more than Ward; Kessler and Froch are both way past it).

There are no fights left for Ward at SMW.

It's Ward who needs to move up. MW and LHW are real, historic divisions. SMW is a catchweight between these two glamour divisions.

GGG still has Martinez, Sturm and Quillin.

    Nobody left for SOG.

He needs to leave Oakland and face the likes of Kovalev, Cleverly and Stevenson.

See, if either guy is ducking a move-up, it's your boy.

( BTW, I don't actually think either dude needs to move-up and I think Ward would probably beat GGG by a narrow UD.)

It's a big mistake to think that power's the only thing GGG brings to the table. If he only hit as hard P4P as Tim Bradley, he'd still be the best middleweight on the planet.

Even his doubters are aware of this, which is why the list of names they're clamoring on to to "expose" him has gradually evolved from Kid Mocklate, to Sergio, to now Ward, the #2 P4P guy fighting in the weight class above. They've gone from predicting Curtis Stevens to knock him out :)lol:) all the way to Andre Ward. That right there tells me the kind of impression Golovkin's really making. :deal

It's never a given at this level but Rodriguez couldn't make weight after trying to play head games with PED testing (never brought up in negotiations) and Ward is as close to 100% healthy as possible.

I'm betting Ward by KO (won't go to the cards)

As far as Ward vs GGG at 168, I'd favor Ward to win by UD but give GGG a good punchers chance.
